Sapsis Rigging to Announces ProPlus Rescue System at #LDI2010

In keeping with its leadership role in Fall Arrest equipment and technology, Sapsis Rigging, Inc. is proud to introduce the ProPlus Rescue System. The ProPlus Rescue system is designed to work anywhere a fall hazard exists: on a truss, steel beam, catwalk or grid. The ProPlus Rescue System allows for the safe and rapid assisted rescue of a victim.

Fixture Tester App for iOS Devices Available in iTunes App Store

iOS app developer Bart van Stiphout has been a busy cat lately! First he releases the FocusRemote app and now the Fixture Tester App. The Fixture Tester iPhone OS is an application to test all the fixtures on the network in 4 steps:

1 Patch – Make a patch (or import a patch from ELC’s dmXLAN) and select all the fixtures you need to test, one type of fixture at a time.

2 Macro – Run a macro (For instance Lamp Strike)

3 Address Test – Press start. All the selected fixtures will go to their home position, one by one. In this way you easily can detect faulty dmx addresses. The correct address and universe is displayed for the current fixture and there are buttons present for pausing and stopping the test, as well as next and previous (when Paused).

4 Parameter Test – All selected fixtures go to their home position. When the test is started, all parameters will be run one by one to their maximum and back. The speed is adjustable. There are options to skip, adjust and repeat a parameter. The window shows the current tested parameter and its value. Again there is the possibility to pause or stop the test. An option “limit” can be set in de library to limit the maximum value for a parameter (Martin uses a combined shutter / control channel and you don’t want your fixture to reset while testing etc.).

Coemar Introduces Reflection FullSpectrum LED Fixture

Winning the 2010 PLASA Award for Innovation, Coemar released their latest product, the Reflection Full Spectrum LED Fixture.

The Reflection is a revolutionary (patents pending) static LED fixture that brings an entirely new concept to this field of lighting: a compact, interchangeable, and modular light source – just like a lamp in conventional fixtures – that creates unmatched intensity by directing light from a unique combination of LEDs onto a parabolic reflector. This design also eliminates problems such as RGB dots and multi-coloured shadows which have plagued many other designs, delivering a unique, uniformly-coloured light beam. By moving the light source in relation to the reflector, this beam can also be zoomed smoothly via DMX from 10° to 17° (1/2 peak angle), 16° to 25° (1/10 peak angle).

Enttec Announces Release of Datagate MK2

After more than two years in development, ENTTEC Pty Ltd has innovated its signature DMX networking tool, the Datagate, by adding a Web-based, user-friendly graphical interface, Gigabit-speed Jumbo Frames, Remote Device Management (RDM) on-demand, and more. #LDI2010: Preview of Stong Entertainments Neeva LED Profile Fixture

I had a chance to take a look at Strong Lighting’s latest LED product at the Broadway Lighting Master Classes this past April. I held off on writing about it as it was still in the prototype phase. After talking with Strong recently, they are preparing to launch and starting shipping the Neeva LED profile fixture.

Neeva is a RGBA or RGBW LED luminarie that produces a hard edge beam that can be focused, framed, and have gobos introduced into the optical path. Neeva produces a flat even field of light generated by our custom engineered LED light engine and custom optics system. Dimming and control are completely integrated via DMX 512. Neeva is designed to visually integrate into your existing lighting system and offer designers a range of possibilities were not previously possible with any LED luminaries.

ShowCAD PC Based Control Software – Artist 3

ShowCAD Artist 3 is a PC based lighting control program that offers powerful features behind a simple and understandable control surface. On top of being able to handle large amounts of DMX, the software can trigger and handle protocols used through the industry such as AV controls via RS232/422, MIDI, SMPTE/EBU, lasers, pyro and video.

The software has a wide array use uses across different production types from theatrical playback, live busking to architectural controls and themed environments.

The down side for me is that the Artist 3 software is currently only available on Windows machines. I have heard that ShowCAD is in the process of developing a Mac version of the software with no announcement date has been set.

Multiform to Unveil New Gll Products at Shanghai Pro Light & Sound 2010

Multiform will be announcing the latest additions to their range of LED lighting fixtures on the booth of their international distributor Adelto Ltd. (Hall W1 No. 1E86) at the Shanghai Pro Light & Sound show October 12 -15.

Rose Brand Introduces Pallet Master Caster

Some times you really need to get you wagon’s rolling across the stage and make it look like they are just gliding across the stage. Keeping a wagon close to the ground and still easy to move on casters has been troublesome with traditional casters.

In steps Rose Brand with their first commercially available caster for low profile wagons, the Pallet Master Caster. Rose Brand developed these together with Darnell Rose using the Advanced Elastomer and sealed bearings to create a 1 ¼” diameter caster for pallets. The flush mount height is only 5/8″ with a surface mount height of 3/4″ and each caster has the ability to hold 100 lbs.
