SETC Comes To A Close

thanks_SETC.jpgAll good things must finialy come to an end. This past week at the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC), we saw and heard some pretty amazing things, not only on the show floor, but through out the conference.

To recap the week:

The rumor that Vari-Lite is poised to announce an LED moving light were confirmed by the poster ad prominently displayed in their booth.

Apollo is on the verge of releasing a clip light for use backstage with a gel ring.

Tomcat just announced the newest addition to their light duty 12×12 box truss, CORE.

SETC put out a new publication, Outside the Box, 25 Design-Tech Strategies Publication.

SETC is a great conference for young people from the high school level to grad students to find not only a summer career, but also a life long love of the industry. SETC is offers hundreds of ways for the younger theatre professional to network and meet industry professionals.

Next years conference is being held in Lexington, Kentucky. If you have a chance to make it, we promise it will be a great experience.

Thanks SETC for the memories!

Apollo Designs Demos Their New Clip Light

apollo_clip_lightApollo Design has put a new twist on the back stage clip light. It looks exactly like the clip light that you would pick up at your local hardware store, only Apollo has put their special touch to it.

Almost every theatre has at least one clip light backstage as a work light or cross over light with blue or purple gel gaff taped to it.  Apollo has simplified the process and has added metal ring to the front that clips to the reflector, thus removing the gaff tape mess from the clip light.

While this is a rather simple and easy product, it does what it is suppose to and makes putting out gel covered clip lights easy, quick and clean.

The retail price for the clip light is $19.95.  This included the clip light, metal gel ring.  Apollo has not confirmed that if any gels will ship with the fixture, but chances are that they will.  As with almost any fixture, lamps are sold separately.  The fixture is set to start shipping as early as may.
