Elation Announces LED Display Bar Fixture

Ever wish you could carry around your own illumination source to provide light wherever it’s needed?  Now you can shine instant bright white light on displays, exhibits, work areas, studio shoots — anything, anywhere, anytime — with the new LED Display Bar from Elation Professional.

A lightweight portable unit, the LED Display Bar consists of a bright rectangular white LED source with variable color temperature that comes with an attached removable wall or table-type clamp mounting system.  This versatile mounting system allows the bar to be positioned on a wall to spotlight a display, or on a desk to provide work light — or the system can be easily removed altogether and replaced with a standard clamp for hanging the unit overhead on truss.  The articulating head, along with the 4-way barn door system around the LED source, allows you to precisely direct the light to the desired area of illumination.  With such versatility, the LED Display Bar’s applications are virtually limitless – from trade shows, exhibits, museums and retail displays, to offices, runways, DJ booths, TV production fill light, and more.

Wherever it’s used, the LED Display Bar will provide brilliant, energy-efficient lighting in just the right shade of warm or cool white. Featuring variable color temperature from 2800-6500K, its rectangular lamp source contains 78 x 0.1-watt warm white LEDs and 78 x 0.1-watt cool white LEDs, allowing users to “dial up” the perfect white for the application.

Extremely portable, the entire unit – lamp and clamp system – weighs a total of just 2 lbs./0.9 kg.  It measures a trim 24.9” x 6.3” x 2.5”/631.7 x 161 x 63.2 mm. for easy packing and transport.

The LED Display Bar also provides users with all the benefits that come from a low-maintenance, energy-efficient LED lamp source.  Its long-lasting LEDs rarely need replacing, eliminating the hassle of burnt-out bulbs.   It draws only 12 watts of electricity, resulting in much lower energy bills than would be expected with traditional lighting sources.

The MSRP of the LED Display Bar is $199.95. Learn more about the Elation LED Display Bar by visiting their website at www.elationlighting.com.

ML Electronics Announce LED Controller iPhone App

ml_electronics-LED-iphone-appML Electronics based in the UK has announced a new iPhone app for controlling LED lighting systems. The new LED control system is able to be controlled from either an iPhone using the new app or a PC over a unique protocol that ML Electronics developed using a 24 VDC supply line.

The system is operated using one or more master controllers which address a number of slaves, and each slave controls clusters of three RGB/white LEDs. The master can be controlled via Ethernet, Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi), Bluetooth, DMX512, DALI or any custom control interface. As part of the development, ML Electronics produced both PC and iPhone applications to address the master via Wireless LAN.

The slaves are connected to the master using a two-wire low voltage 24 volt supply, and each slave is capable of controlling the colour and brightness of up to 50 Watts of LED illumination from data command signals superimposed on the power line. A master unit injects control data onto the low voltage supply line controlling the slaves using the MLE protocol. Each master can control two ‘strings’, each with 16 slaves. These strings can be wired in parallel, so that each slave produces the same colours, or in series, allowing slaves to produce different output colours if desired. No earth is required, and there are no separate control lines.

Currently, the new iPhone app is not showing on the iTunes app store.  For more information about the low volt LED control system from ML Electronics, visit their website at www.ml-electronics.co.uk.

amBX UK Ltd Preps Debut of amBIENT XC Lighting Controller

amBIENT_XC_frontIf you plan on attending PLASA Show next month in London, be sure to stop by the amBX UK Ltd. booth to preview their latest lighting control system, the amBIENT XC. The one line that has peaked our interest from the press release is…

The product is billed as a radically changing the way in which light and space are designed to create immersive entertainment experiences using light, video and sound.

We are not quite sure how this is a radical change of how lighting and video systems are controlled as it does not mention more then the amBient XC is a stand-alone DMX512 controller powered by amBX technology. The company, amBX is claiming that this new technology is going to be the new standard in creating and delivery an immersive entertainment experience.

The amBIENT XC has a variety of AMbx modes pre built into the box for some “standard” LED effects such as Fire Flame, Pacific Tide, (personally, we would like to see an ATLANTIC tide), Warm Breeze and others that are also customizable.  All of these modes can be executed and changed or modified by touchscreen on the front of the box.  There is also some downloadable PC design tools for greater control options and configuration.

From what we have read and seen on the website, the amBIENT XC is a pretty cool, self contained DMX playback unit.  It can be a great option for night clubs, restaurants and other architectural spaces that have LED lighting and want to have “effects” running with the tap of a screen.

The amBIENT XC is being distributed in the US by TMB.  Since the amBIENT XC has not be “offically” announed yet, we can’t find a retail price.  For more information on the amBIENT XC, visit amBX’s web site at www.ambx.com.

Doug Fleenor Designs’s New Chameleon Architechtural Controller

chameleon

Doug Fleenor Designs had their new Chameleon architechtural controller on display at Lightfair last week.  This standalone single universe box provides a small, clean solution for simple systems.  Dr. DMX calls this box the Chameleon because the faceplate can be almost any laser engravable material or even a faceplate with a laser printed overlay.  The controller itself has definable buttons that can control either fixtures or presets as well as a master fader control.
