ArKaos Kling-Net is on FIRE, Claypaky Adopts Protocol for HY B-EYE Series

You know something is good when others take notice and begin to add it to their products.  Just recently, JB-Lighting made a similar announcement about adding ArKaos’s Kling-Net protocol to their new products.  Claypaky too has seen the light and recognized the benefit of incorporating Kling-Net into their new HY B-EYE series of products. What this means is greater pixel control with simpler and quicker programming.

Here is more about Claypaky’s commitment to Kling-net from their Press Release

Leading Italian lighting manufacturer Claypaky announces its commitment to ArKaos’s powerful Kling-Net protocol, which will now be embedded in its newest HY B-EYE product line.

Giovanni Zucchinali, Claypaky’s Product Portfolio Manager, explained that “as the current and future requirements of lighting and visual design are so dynamic and fast-moving, lighting designers, programmers and operators need the most flexible and creative tools at their fingertips. We see a strong trend for one of those future developments being moving heads and pixel fixtures increasingly working in conjunction with video content”.

He goes on the explain that the new Claypaky HY B-EYE K25 and HY B-EYE K15 recently introduced to the market, are supplied with ArKaos Kling-Net as standard and already included in the firmware.

“This new and interesting feature greatly expands the already rich effects of the HY B-EYE range, making it an even more versatile and practical luminaire” comments ArKaos CEO Marco Hinic. “This is why, going forward, ArKaos is supporting Claypaky devices with the Kling-Net software network interface and we are all looking forward to this combination of cutting-edge technologies that will offer faster, more flexible and even more versatile products”.

Kling-Net is a revolutionary plug-and-play control protocol developed by digital media specialists ArKaos for the easy operation of LED and video devices / lightsources.

It allows the distribution of real-time video data to remote display devices – like LED fixtures or LED panels – over Ethernet, adding a degree of ‘intelligence’ with the automatic configuration and connection of display devices to a computer.

It enables the perfect time synchronization of video signals sent to multiple devices and avoids using expensive hardware and video converters to achieve this.

Using Kling-Net, a heterogenic network of display devices from different manufacturers can be created and all controlled all from one computer!

One of the many aspects of Kling-Net impressing Claypaky was the opportunity to integrate luminaires very simply into a show video design, removing the usual complications and time needed by the user/designer to create a device library containing the pixel mapping information specific to each fixture.

With Kling-Net embedded, the fixture itself provides that information.

JB-Lighting Takes Control To the Next Level; Adds ArKaos Kling-Net to ALL Future Development

German lighting manufacturer JB-Lighting announces its commitment to ArKaos’s powerful Kling-Net protocol, which will now be embedded in its newest product lines including the Varyscan P18 hybrid, the Sparx 18 LED wash beam and the Sparx 30 twin zoom LED wash beam fixtures.

JB-Lighting’s head of sales Jörg Zimmermann explained that this is due to “the current and future requirements of lighting and visual design” which are constantly fluid and need to offer LDs, programmers and operators the most flexible and creative options.

One of those future developments, he observes, will include moving heads increasingly working in conjunction with video content. This is one of the main reasons they have decided “to support all these JB-Lighting devices with a network interface for Kling-Net protocol”, confirms Jörg.

ArKaos Introduces A30 Media Server

ArKaos announced their latest hardware product, the A30 Media Server. The case has been designed to allow a very efficient air flow. Several fans, protected by a dust filter, are located at the front of the case and can be easily serviced without opening the rest of the case. This is done through a special door that gives access to both the fans and the filter without exposing any cables or electrical connections. This is very handy when working on long tours.

The custom-made case provides a very convenient display on the front which allows the server to be used without the need to connect to an external display. The front cover also provides a large LED strip that gives feedback on the state of operation of the server.

Neutrik connectors are used exclusively on the back of the case to provide sturdy connections. Similarly for the audio, the server provides balanced audio on XLR connectors for both input and output.

It is pre-configured to work directly with all market-leading DMX lighting desks. Everything has been designed so you just have to plug and play. The ArKaos A30 offers playback of nine simultaneous HD layers or six Full HD layers on up to 6 outputs.

ArKaos Announces MediaMaster 2.2 with Sexy New Curves

MediaMaster 2.2 now comes with new curved screen technology, it has never been so easy to project video on non-planar surfaces. This new functionality is available as a free upgrade to all user of MediaMaster Pro 2.

MediaMaster is a software solution for professional control of real-time video and effects that has been specifically developed for desk operators and lighting designers.

MediaMaster Pro will turn any powerful computer into a full fledged professional media server capable of running live or programmed HD video shows in sync with music and light.

More than simply supporting curved screen functionality, the new geometry correction also allows you to correct a single projector mounted in those difficult places where standard keystone correction is not effective. It will also harmonise the output from several projectors which cannot be installed at the same distance or angle to a curved screen.

The geometry correction operates by transforming the output visuals of MediaMaster and so works on top of both MediaMaster Simple and Fixture mode. A test pattern is available to help precisely align the real-time video content over non-planar or curved screens. Edge blending can be edited globally, or individually for either side of each projector.

MediaMaster retains all it’s simplicity and user-friendliness, so the operator continues to work in the same way as before. The geometry correction module only acts on the played visuals and is activated with a simple setting in the application preference window. The output resolution is limited only by the video card used and is compatible with, for example, the Radeon™ HD 5870 that offers 6 outputs.

The geometric correction itself is very flexible in relation to the number of control points that can be used and the type of correction required: linear, curved or nurb. The displacement can be coarsely moved with the mouse and finely adjusted, pixel by pixel, with the arrow keys of the keyboard.

MediaMaster 2.2 also offers several other improvements, such as better support for multiple monitors. While still running effortlessly on Windows XP and Mac OS X, MediaMaster 2.2 now makes it possible to work with multiple monitors on operating systems that do not support spanning, such as Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

Several new effects have been added including Old Movie, Iris and Geometric Cylindrical Distortion. Other minor enhancements have been made and are documented in the change logs available in the release notes.

One final piece of good news: all the new, sleek, super-functionality of MediaMaster 2.2 is available at a fraction of the cost of other media servers, making ArKaos MediaMaster the most affordable media server software on the market.

ArKaos Announces New MediaMaster 1.2

ArKaos has just announced the release of their latest update to their popular media server software, MediaMaster 1.2.  This new version of MediaMaster makes use of ArKaos’ latest generation of real time video technology to deliver incredible performance on any MAC or PC on which it is installed, including standard laptops. MediaMaster 1.2 is capable of playing up to eight simultaneous layers of HD video, without dropping frames, when running on an octo-core server.

More from the press release:

A major addition to this new release is the ability to both mix the audio track from movies and to control the global audio volume via DMX. As a result, a DMX control desk can now act as an audio mixer. Also new is MediaMaster 1.2’s support of Quartz Composer. This Mac-only technology allows both the creation of GPU accelerated movies and highly customized effects and music visualizers. The addition of this feature now makes it very easy to create animations that read information from web pages and present it in an attractive way. Flash Animation Player has been enhanced by its support of Actionscript3. This opens new doors to developers who want to create unique animations and music visualizers on Windows or Mac.

These new developments also open MediaMaster 1.2 to an infinite array of new creative possibilities by offering users an easy way to design unique audiovisual shows that combine traditional video and lighting with audio reactive visuals and advanced custom effects.

As a highly professional media server software, MediaMaster also comes with features such as improved Frame Blending Support for extremely smooth video playback even at slow speeds, perfect Soft Edge for seamless blending of multiple projectors, high resolution output at up to 4096 pixels on supporting hardware and advanced media composition due to its support of alpha channels.

The software is fully compatible with Matrox Dual, TripleHead2Go Analog and Digital Editions, allowing several projectors to be connected to a single server.

MediaMaster is the only solution offering decompression engines for almost any video format. This dispenses with the need to recompress video files which, in turn, provides maximum flexibility for the designer who can work with almost any file in a very user-friendly way.

Thanks to the CITP support, Media Server Extensions (MSEX) enable media information to be displayed on many lighting consoles, including those from Avolites, Chamsys, Compulite, ETC, Zero88 and ADB. The software also listen directly to a GrandMA console through the MA-eDMX protocol resulting in a simpler and more efficient setup between these two very popular products.

Finally, the ArKaos Media Server A10 HD already incorporates the new MediaMaster 1.2 software. This super-fast media server is designed for customers who demand a high-performance, turnkey solution which guarantees the best video performance and can run large shows seamlessly.

If you are attending ProLight + Sound 2010 in Frankfurt Germany on March 24 through 27, be sure to stop by ArKaos’s booth, C30/C28 in Hall 11.1.  You can learn more about the MediaMaster 1.2 by visiting Arkaos web site at www.arkaos.net.
