Lex Products Adds Molded Motor Control Cables to EverGrip Line

Lex Products announces the addition of Molded 7 and 14 Pin Motor Control Cable to its growing line of EverGrip cable assemblies. Lex’s overmold technology provides enhanced safety and durability for critical motor and hoist applications used in Entertainment scenery and rigging. The cables feature 7 and 14 pin Veam compatible quarter turn motor configuration connectors and heavy-duty 16AWG 7 conductor SOOW cable.

The core of EverGrip is a polypropylene premold which provides a mechanical bond between the cable and connector and totally encapsulates the contacts and conductors to prevent the possibility of pushed pins, and broken conductors. Short circuits due to stray wires are eliminated. A solid Santoprene overmold absorbs impact to protect internal conductors and provides enhanced flex and strain relief to extend cable life.

Standard length cable assemblies are available from 5ft. thru 200ft. Custom cable lengths and cable labels can also be specified. Lex can also retrofit new EverGrip molded connectors to your damaged motor cables, extending the life of your cable.

To help reduce potential losses do to mixing of dealers cable on job sites and to increase dealers brand identity, the customer’s name or logo can be molded into each connector body for a nominal charge.

Lex offers a 5 year limited warranty on EverGrip molded male and female connectors. Lex also molding of names and logo’s on the connectors of the cables. To learn more about the new Molded Motor Control Cables, visit Lex Product’s website at www.lexproducts.com.

Lex Products Offers Custom Cable Labels

How many times has it happened to you, you can’t tell which cables are yours because cables just all look alike?  Lex Products now offers standard cable labels using new permanently self-laminating, weatherproof, durable vinyl labels which are wrapped around the cable. These rugged labels are then covered with the clear heat shrink that is included on every cable assembly, providing multi-layer label protection. This new method has several benefits, including:

  • High quality printing of logos and text for superior readability
  • Permanently self-laminating labels under clear heat shrink offer multiple layers of protection for longer life
  • Labels can be applied to in-stock cable, reducing lead times
  • Colored labels available
  • All cables now include length and catalog number labels

To see about getting custom labels for your cables, download the Custom Cable Label Order Form from Lex Products and contact your local dealer for more information.

Lex Products Introduces Evergrip

Lex Products EvergripWe normally like to do our write up on new products, but Lex’s Press Release says it all!

Everyone in the entertainment technologies industry know that November means LDI. They also know that LDI means that Lex Products, winner of the ESTA Product of the Year award in the widget category for the past 6 years running, will show up in Orlando with something big up their sleeve. For 2009 that something big is EverGrip™, and it will change the way you think about multi-cable.

EverGrip connectors are overmolded, meaning they go through two separate molding processes that makes them exceptionally tough, remarkably safe, and maintenance free.

The core of EverGrip is a polypropylene premold that encapsulates the contact and wires, meaning the possibility of pushed pins is eliminated and the ground ring cannot loosen.

A Santoprene™ external overmold doesn’t just look nice – it provides superior flex and strain relief. The solid molded construction is impact resistant and covers all aspects of the connector, even the locking ring. This means total surface insulation when the devices are mated. Together, all of the advantages of overmolding can double the flex life of your assemblies. An optional weatherproof cover is offered to protect female connectors from weather, dust and dirt.

To learn more about the Evergrip, visit Lex’s website at www.lexproducts.com or visit their booth, 1157 next week at the LDI Show in Orlando.

TMB Announces New ProMolded 19-Pin Cable Assemblies

TMB Pro-Molded Cable AssembliesTMB is preparing to announce a new line-up of products at the LDI Show this year called the ProMold.  The first product in this series is the ProMolded 19-Pin Cable Assembly.

The 19-Pin connectors use TMB’s ruggedized ProCable and premium ProSeries connectors for break-ins, break-outs and extension cable.

Comprised of internal polypropylene and outer Santoprene molds, ProMolded assemblies are fabricated and guaranteed by TMB. Features, the company says, include improved strain and flex relief, the elimination of broken terminations and pushed pins, as well as broken backshells; greater pull strength; industrial-strength durability, and long-term reliability. The products are moisture- and water resistant, easy to handle, and interface with all conventional 19-pin connectors.

for more information on the ProMolded Series of Cable assemblies, visit TMB’s website at www.tmb.com or visit their booth, 1180 at LDI next week.

Wireworks Introduces MCat5 Network Multi-Cable

wireworks-mcat5-webWireworks out of Hillside, New Jersey is preparing to announce a new multi-cable with Cat5 connectors called MCat5. Think of the MCat5 cable and connectors as a Socapex break-in and break-out cable for networking with Cat5 cables. The MCat5 makes running multiple lines of networking cable quick and easy by combining 6 individual lines into one and then broken out or in at either end.

Where could this be useful, think of running multiple network feeds to a tech table in the house or multiple line to a truss or batten where a lighting network is in use.

The cabling device uses a sturdy multipin connector in place of standard RJ45 connectors for creating a rugged point-to-point connection. The MCat5 is made of heavy-duty CATe rated cable with a extra-tough double jacketed shielded cable design. With a small overall diameter of 0.57″ and weighing 14 lbs. per 100′, the MCat 5 is designed to be easy to work with and hold up to the rigorous demands of tour and live production.

Each of the tails supports six channels or runs of 10/100/1000BASE-T signal. Tail sets are also available to support 12 channels or runs of 10/100BASE-T using cable sharing technology. Each individual RJ45 connector on either end of the tail sets are color coded for easy identification.

Runs up to 250′ are available with either standard RJ45 or ethercon connectors on the tail sets. Pricing has not be released yet.  For more information on the MCat5 from Wireworks, visit their web site at www.wireworks.com.

TMB ProShell RJ45 BackShell

ProShell-NoCap-600x175

We were recently on the TMB website doing some research and came across a new product called the ProShell RJ45 BackShell as pictured above.  While this entire device just looks like another RJ45 connector, just beefed up, it is in fact not that!  The patented ProShell converts any conventional RJ45 connector into a robust and road worthy connector capable of repeated connections while maintaining mechanical and electrical integrity.

Here are some features listed from the web site:

  • Fits standard attachable RJ45 connectors
  • Strain relief holds cable securely
  • Protects RJ45 locking mechanism (latch) from breaking off
  • Profile fits high-density hubs and switches. Will not block adjacent ports
  • Label indent fits standard size label for easy marking
  • Color coded; available in all resistor colors
  • Completely removable and reusable
  • Shaped to easily pull longer cables through nested cables
  • Optional cap protects contacts when longer cables are dragged during coiling

At a retail price of $5.60 for a pack of 2 for the ProCell RJ45 BackShell with no cap, these are a cheap addition to any tour where RJ45 cables are pulled night after night.  For more information and to purchase your ProShell BackShell, visit TMB’s website at www.TMB.com.
