How Passionate Are You About Your Work?

When it comes to the arts, you really have to have a passion for what you do.  Actors and technicians alike can have a tough time breaking into the business.  With Passion comes the fruit of your labors. Along with a bit of practice and a little know how added in.

A good friend and I were recently talking about the MagicQ MQ100 from ChamSys.  When the subject of control desk comes around, I can talk all day, but I digress.  Dave mentioned to me, “have you seen that video of the NiN Lite Guy? He goes through MQ300 like no ones business!”.  I had to Google that, and man is there some videos!

Take a look at Jason Bullock, the lighting desk operator for NiN. From the multiple YouTube videos I have seen of Jason at the desk, I have to believe that one, he loves NiN music, two, he is pretty passionate about his work. Take a look for yourself of Jason behind the desk really enjoying his job.  My question to you is, are you that passionate about your work?

I love the fist pump in this one!

ChamSys Releases MagicQ Remote App for iPhone

Back on May 21st, ChamSys released their MagicQ Remote iPhone App in the iTunes App store. Just like almost all of the other remote apps out there for lighting consoles, the MagicQ Remote App connects to the MagicQ console via WiFi.  The app offers the ability to control and run lights from the iPhone.  While the remote app does work on the iPad, it is not a native iPad app.  On the iPad, the app “magnified” like other iPhone apps to make use of the larger display on the iPad.

The MagicQ Remote App is a FREE download from the iTunes app store.  To learn more about the MagicQ line up of consoles, visit ChamSys web site at www.chamsys.co.uk.

ChamSys Announces MagicDMX, A USB DMX Interface

I received a message from ChamSys yesterday and all it contained was this…

www.magicDMX.com

Looks like ChamSys is announcing a USB DMX Interface called MagicDMX.  It is a single Universe or 512 channel DMX converter that works with ChamSys MagicQ PC Based Lighting Controller. The MagicDMX interface device contains the processor that handles the DMX control signal and NOT the computer. What does that mean?  All of the timing and control signal is handled within the DMX interface and doesn’t rely on the computers processor to do the thinking. This is a huge advantage in the DMX interface!

There are two versions of the MagicDMX interface that will be available, the MagicDMX Basic for users that wish to get familiar with the MagicQ control software and the MagicDMX Full for experienced and users looking for more control and functions.

Pricing and availability has not yet been released, but I have heard that ChamSys just might have the MagicDMX on display and demo in their stand at ProLight + Sound this week in Frankfurt Germany.
