Elation Introduces LED Dummy

“Lights out: is supposed to mean just that lights out. Unfortunately, as anyone who’s ever worked with dimmer packs and LED fixtures knows, there can be an afterglow that keeps radiating small amounts of light even after the dimmer has been turned off.

Well, now “out” can really mean out and “off” can really mean off, thanks to the new Elation LED Dummy, a simple, but effective load device that makes afterglows go away! The Elation LED Dummy plugs into a dimmer pack and completely absorbs its load, so the LEDs aren’t fed the traces of power to keep the faint glow of light alive.

Designed for triac control circuits, the LED Dummy uses a standard Edison socket and plug. The device consumes very little power and measures only 50.5 by 36 by 38 mm.

FEATURES

  • High performance load device designed for LED fixtures
  • Designed for triac control circuits
  • Plugs inline to the output of power and dimmer packs
  • Standards Edison socket and plug for power transmission
  • Low power consumption

Elation Announces Color Tone 50 with Philips 50 Watt Lexel LED

Elation Professional is proud to launch a major breakthrough in LED color-mixing with the introduction of the Color Tone 50.  A unique and advanced DMX-controllable LED color changer for staging, entertainment and architectural applications, the Color Tone 50 utilizes the all-new 50-watt Philips Lexel LED module, a revolutionary homogenized LED light source.

Unlike previous RGB LED fixtures that produced colors by combining red, green and blue beams from different LED lamps, all of the Color Tone 50’s color blending is done within its single Philips Lexel module, resulting in superior colors and a whole spectrum of whites that are perfectly even and consistent in tone.  This new technology completely eliminates issues than can sometimes occur with RGB mixing, such as uneven output, discoloration, and “halos” or rings around beam edges.

Featuring comparable color-to-color output to a 500-watt halogen fixture with gels, the Color Tone 50 is ideal for theaters, stage shows, churches, trade shows, displays and architectural use. One of its very attractive features is Selectable Color Temperature from 2,700°K to 6,500°K, which allows users to “dial up” a whole spectrum of whites, from warm to cool to daylight. This, along with its convection-cooled silent operation, makes the Color Tone 50 perfect for television and video key lighting applications as well.

Users will find a whole array of other professional features on the Color Tone 50, including a Linear Electronic Dimmer from 0%-100% and a variable Strobe Effect.  Additionally, there are 8 User Assignable Program Presets, which let users edit and save programs either through the front control panel or an external controller.  Up to 48 program scenes can be saved and then called up and run via a menu on the control panel

The Color Tone 50 can be operated in 3 different modes: DMX, Manual or Stand Alone. When used with a DMX controller, it can be run in either 3- or 7-channel modes.  It features Elation’s exclusive RDMX (Remote DMX Addressing), which allows DMX values to be set from the convenience of a DMX-512 controller.

The Color Tone 50 retails for $1,599.95.  Learn more about the Elation Color Tone 50 by visiting Elation’s website at www.elationlighting.com.

Elation Announces E Spot LED Moving Light

The new E Spot LED from Elation Professional has got a lot of people buzzing about just what the “E” in its name stands for. “Energy Efficient” is one likely guess, because this compact LED-powered DMX spot fixture produces an output that’s brighter than a typical 150-watt discharge lamp, yet it uses less than half the electricity.

“Exciting” would be an equally good choice, considering that the E Spot LED is loaded with DMX-operational features and effects, including 8 dichroic colors, 7 rotating gobos, 3 rotating prisms, variable speed Shutter/Strobe, 0-100% Electronic Dimming, Motorized Focus and more – all packed into an incredibly small, lightweight case.

Which brings up another “E” — “Everywhere” – which is literally where the E Spot LED can go. Measuring a mere 8”L 11.8”W x 17.2”H/203.2mm x 299.72mm x 436.88 mm and weighing just 25 lbs./11kg., the pint-sized E Spot LED can be easily taken on tour and to all types of events, and it will fit into the tightest, most cramped spaces.

Bottom line: “Evolution.” The E Spot LED was developed in response to the general industry trend toward increasingly more compact, low-energy-usage lighting fixtures, according to Eric Loader, director of sales for Elation Professional. “Today’s designers and lighting users want scaled-down size and greater energy-efficiency, yet they don’t want to sacrifice brightness and features,” said Loader. “The E Spot LED represents a major advance along these lines — it delivers so much in terms of output and features for its compact size, while consuming less half the energy of a 150-watt discharge fixture. It’s right on target with where today’s lighting market is evolving.”

With razor-sharp optics and a flat beam field, the E Spot LED provides a professional lighting tool for a wide range of applications: nightclubs, theaters, concerts, stage productions, churches and more. Its easy portability is ideal for the rental market, and its flicker-free operation makes it a perfect choice for TV/film production lighting too.

Powered by a CBT-90W white 6500°K LED light source, the E Spot LED features a color wheel with 8 dichroic colors and variable speed color scrolling. Seven rotating/indexing replaceable gobos are also included, with gobo scrolling and a Gobo Shake effect. More eye-popping effects can be created by the unit’s 3 rotating, indexing prisms – a 3-facet, 5-facet and 3D. The E Spot LED has a 15° beam angle and can pan/tilt 540°/ 630° x 265° for wide-ranging coverage.

All of these and its other features, including Shutter/Strobe, Electronic Dimming and Motorized Focus, can be commanded with a standard DMX controller via 12- or 14-channel operation. The E Spot LED also includes 8 built-in programs which can be called up either manually or via DMX. Another convenient feature is Elation’s exclusive RDMX (Remote DMX Addressing), which allows DMX values to be set remotely from the controller itself, eliminating the need to climb on ladders to access installed fixtures.

The E Spot LED produces an output of 960 lux/ 91 foot-candles at 16 feet, while consuming only 180W at maximum use. Not only is it extremely energy efficient, but its solid state LED lamp source emits minimal heat and is rated at 60,000 hours for maintenance-free operation.

The retail price of the Elation E Spot LED is $ 1,999.95.  Learn more about the E Spot LED by visiting Elations web site at www.elationlighting.com or check out the E Spot LED in action via a YouTube video below.

Elation Prepares to Announce “Revolutionary” Moving Light

Elation "Revolutionary" Moving LightThe product announcements just keep rolling in, LDI must be right around the corner. Elation Lighting is preparing to announce a “revolutionary” spot/wash moving light this year at the LDI Show. Elation is calling it the Platinum Spot 5R. What you cannot tell from the picture is that the Platinum is the size of a 250w fixture. Here’s the kicker, Elation says that the fixture is comparable to a 575w fixture! Not only that, but the fixture uses 25% less energy and weighs 50% less then a comparable 250w fixture and still measures 2/3 the size.

Not only is the fixture smaller, lighter and brighter, Elation says that the fixture moves much faster on pan and tilt as well as color and gobos changes. So how did they do that? All Elation would mention is that the Platinum Spot 5R utilizes a brand new and advanced light source technology.

Since we cannot find any additional information on the fixture, we’ll just have to visit the Elation Lighting booth, #703 at the LDI Show later this week. The Platinum Spot 5R is just one of 20 new products Elation will be introducing at LDI. To learn more about Elation’s products, visit their website at www.elationlighting.com.
