ETC “Officially” Introduce the Fire & Ice LED Fixtures

This was a little expected as ETC showed the Fire & Ice LED fixture back in November at LDI.  You may remember the YouTube video that was posted here on iSquint back at LDI of Novella Smith from ETC explaining the new fixtures.  But here is the “Official” announcement from ETC on the Fire & Ice LED fixtures.  Here is more from the Press Release.

Responding to demand for more of its Selador™ LED lighting fixtures, ETC is introducing two bold color-spectrum-specific versions: Fire and Ice. Fire features a warm wash of saturated reds, oranges and ambers never before seen from LEDs or gels. Ice provides, in one powerhouse fixture, a palette of brilliant deep indigo, blue, cyan, green (and a touch of red) — the gamut of blue washes that designers seek for their light plots. Integral to the new Selador Vivid™ line-up, Fire and Ice offer these rich, lush colors while equaling or exceeding the brightness performance of conventional tungsten PAR fixtures and saving dramatically on electricity.

In a typical color application, Fire and Ice fixtures produce more light and can consume less than 70 watts of power compared to their gelled tungsten counterparts at 575 watts.  Going beyond theater or broadcast-production use, Fire and Ice are smart green choices for any specialty lighting application. By replacing high-powered single-color warm and cool conventional fixtures in houses of worship or themed environments (amusement parks, restaurants, retail, casinos, etc.), facilities can reap bankable power and maintenance savings. Fire and Ice can be used for dramatic accent lighting as well, lowering power consumption in any installation.

ETC Fire and Ice LED – Novella Smith Explains

ETC Selador Fire and Ice LEDsYesterday I wrote about ETCs latest LED products, the Fire and Ice Seledor units. I had a chance to sit down with Novella Smith, the LED Market Manager for ETC and one of the original developers of the Seledor line-up of LED fixtures.

ETC not only talked but listened to Lighting designers to  develop the new line up of LED fixtures. Separately, the fixtures produce amazingly intense and super saturated colors not normally found in typical RGB, RGBW or even RGBA LED fixtures.  What is truly impressive is when combining the fixtures to produce a great looking white.

Just like all of the Selador fixture, the Fire and Ice fixtures utilize the 10 t0 90 degree vertical and horizontal lens to spread the beam how ever your heart desires.

ETC Introduces Fire and Ice LED Fixtures

ETC Selador X7I just had a chance to talk with Mrs. Smith from ETC about their latest LED product, the Selador Fire and ICE LED fixtures.  ETC has taken the X7 11 fixture and reduce to colors to make two versions of a more intense wash fixture.  With the Fire fixture, you are able to achive deep, brighter reds as the cooler colors have been reduce in number in the fixture.  Additionally, with the Ice fixture, it is the opposite, the red or warmers color LEDs has been reduced to give cooler brighter and more robust blues.

When combining the fixture together and mixing the fixtures, you are able to create a bright white and even more color possibilities.  What is awesome to note about the either the Fire and Ice, the output in lumens is at least DOUBLE that of a Source Four Par with an HPL750 lamp.

Shipping of the fixture is expected to begin the first quarter of 2010.

Please note that the image above is of a Vivid 11 and not the Fire or Ice LED fixture.
