Friday Flickr Lighting Porn – Hoffonian

This weeks randomly selected Friday Flickr Lighting Porn comes from Flickr user Hoffonian.  Alas, I wish I could tell you more about Hoffonian and where this photo came from, but no information was associated with the image. I can tell you that this is AWESOME!  What a great use of truss, spandex and light! From some of the other images of the “truss bird” as I am I calling it, it looks as though there was some sort of exhibit or something in the belly of the beast.  What, I am not sure.  I wish I could have been there to see this in person!

Thanks Hoffonian for sharing your lighting design work on the iSquint Friday Flickr Lighting Pool.  You can see more of Hoffonian’s work by visiting their photostream on Flickr.

Want to see your lighting design featured here on iSquint?  Each Friday, I randomly select a photo from the iSquint Friday Flickr Lighting Pool.  Besure to add your photos to the pool and make sure to add some information about the design.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend everyone!

Summer Solstice and the iSquint Summer Contest Starts TODAY!

Welcome to the 2010 Summer Solstice!  It is officially the start of summer.  It also happens to be the longest day of the year with the most amount of sun light we’ll see all year.  That is expect for the Barrow Alaska that started it’s longest day on May 10th and won’t see night time for three months.  Can you imagine that… almost three months worth of daylight? Now that is a lot of a light!

Summer brings many well deserved vacations and holidays.  Most of us get a chance to breath easy for a week or so to spend time with family and friends at some pretty amazing places. Are you planning a special get away or visiting some place new and different?  If so, don’t forget your camera!  Like I mentioned in my City Lights post a month or so ago, always carry your camera with you, you never know when an amazing shot with reveal it’s self to you.

I am holding a summer long contest to see who can capture the essence of summer with lighting.  whether it be an amazing sun set, an awesome show that you lite or just the amazing afternoon sun bouncing off a building, I am looking for photos that really capture what summer meant to you. You can submit as many photos as you want all summer long.

On the first day of Fall, September 21st, 2010, I will announce the winner of the Summer Time Lighting Contest.  At this time, I don’t want to tell you exactly what you win as I want you to focus on the photo and not the prize.  But let me tell you, it will be SO WORTH IT.

All you have to do is add your photos all summer long to the iSquint 2010 Summer Contest Pool on Flickr.com.  At the end of summer, a panel of judges will select the best photo from the collection that best captures the 2010 summer.  The contest is only open to US Residence at this time, I’m sorry my friends out of country! :(  That doesn’t mean you can still add your summer photos though, all of us would still love to see them.

Have a safe and wonderful summer and happy photo hunting, I can’t wait to see your additions!

Is Eleven Monitors a Bit Much?

I’ll be honest here, I was getting ready to go through the Friday Flickr Lighting Porn Pool when I noticed a couple of additions to the other pool I have setup on Flickr, the Lighting Consoles Setup Pool.  I was strolling through the awesome console photos people have uploaded and one struck me, the one above.  A month or two ago, I asked, how many monitors is to many on a lighting console? Apparently 11 was just right for this Virtuoso from PRG.  This is just one of the six, yes 6 desk that were setup at Eurovision song contest 2010 at Oslo Norway. This setup really makes it feel like you are at the helm of the Star Trek Enterprise!

AMAZING!

Keep adding the console photos to the pool, they are lookin good!  Learn more about Eurovision at the productions web site, www.m-m-pr.com.

Update: #LDI2009 – More Photo Goodness

ETC Fire and Ice LED FixturesI just added more photos to the iSquint Flickr 2009 LDI Set.  I saw some pretty cool stuff in the afternoon. We got some close up photos of the new Fire and Ice LED fixtures from ETC.

I also got a closer look and touched the RSC LightLock From Total Structure.  Pretty neat device. It was announced back at PLASA and is being shown here in the US for the first time at LDI.  It’s really neat to move the fixture and watch the LightLock correct and get it back into position!

I also learn of a couple of other things that were announced just this morning that I’ll be writing up here shortly. Thus far, it has been one wickadly long day on the feet, but the foot traffic on the floor seemed up from expectations.  Atleast that is what most of the exhibitors said!

Only two more days of #LDI2009 and there is still plenty to see. Stay tuned, it’s only just begun!
