Dean worked with the Opera Providence to bring this design to life. The photo is from pre-show so no actors, they’re just talking set pieces and anyways right?! Just kidding actors, we love you too! The above image is from the 2011 dance production of Rite of Spring at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toranto Canada.  I love the low side light and the shear fabric above. Friday Flickr Lighting Porn – ZZ Creative

This weeks randomly selected Friday Flickr Lighting Porn comes all the way from down under.  The above image is from Ziggy Ziegler, lighting director/designer from ZZ Creative Services in Australia.  This is from the APRA, (Australasian Performing Right Association) Awards from 2010. It looks like the venue has a pretty low ceiling that can be quite challenging in our field.  Talk about some difficult angles!  What is interesting is that the venue has mirrors on the ceiling! Now there is using your surroundings to your advantage.  Yellow always surprises me, in the right situation and hue, it works great! Thanks Ziggy for adding your photos!

Check out more of ZZ Creative Services work on their Flickr page or by visiting their website at www.zzcreative.com.au. Want to see your photo featured here on iSquint?  Simpley add your lighting design photos to the iSquint Friday Flickr Lighting Porn Pool on Flickr.  ALMOST each week I randomly select a photo from the pool and feature it here.

Friday Flickr Lighting Porn – Cory Froke

This weeks Friday Flickr Lighting Porn comes from Cory Froke.  I recently got a chance to meet Cory in person while in Vegas recently.  We just happen to be there at the same time.  Cory is an awesome dude.  Wish I could have hung out with him a little bit more, but as it was midnight in Vegas and I was still on right coast time… Yeah, I had to head to bed.

The above photo is the the 2010 KOHAR Tour or the KOHAR Symphony Orchestra & Choir at the Nob Hill Masonic Center in San Francisco, CA.  I am loving the color choices and the back light through the dancers dresses.  You can never go wrong with a little fog and light beams. Check out more of Cory’s work on Flickr.com.  You can also follow Cory on twitter @coryfroke. Check out his website too, it’s still being worked on, but you can get in touch with him there.

Friday Flickr Lighting Porn – Joseph Glodek

This weeks randomly selected Friday Flickr Lighting Porn comes from lighting design Joseph Glodek out of Temple University in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.  The design is from the 2009 production of Dreaming of Diamonds: The Conwell Project. It takes place in 1888 at Temple University.  The play was presented  as part of the 125th anniversary celebration of Temple University.  The play is about the life of Russell H. Conwell, the founder of Temple College which eventually became Temple University.

I am loving the natural feeling of the late 19th century with dark shadows, source lighting which would come from natural elements of the day.  Shadows can tell more about a person sometimes more then a beam of light.  Excellent work Joseph!  Thanks for sharing your design work on the iSquint Friday Flickr Lighting Porn.  What do you think of Josephs design?  Leave a comment below.

Excellent work Joesph, I am feeling it! Photo credits belong to Briggs Houston.

Friday Flickr Lighting Porn – Brittany Diliberto

This weeks randomly selected Friday Flickr Lighting Porn comes from one of my favorite people here is the DC Metro Area, Brittany Diliberto. On a quick personal note, I have had the pleasure to meet Britt, and she is wonderful.  Not only is she a joy to be around, with the constant smiling and high spirits, but her work is amazing.  I have only seen her work a few times and it is just spectacular, look at the photo above! I just love the light breaking up through the wood planks!

You can see more of Brittany’s work in a number of places, first, her flickr page that contains a bunch of her design work as well as her awesome photography skills.  You can also see her work on her personal website, www.plaidleaf.com. From there, you can get touch with Brittany.  Be careful though, her smile and laugh is contagious!
