GLP Embraces LEDs with the impression E350, S350, FR1 and the KNV Cube

German Light Products took the idea of launching new products to a new level last year with the introduction of a number of fixtures.  GLP is another one of those companies that embraced LED technology and never looked back.  All of their recent additions feature the technology that has firmly taken root in our world, the Light Emitting Diode.

Impression E350

With this new, supercharged LED moving head, GLP has moved its development program into the next generation. The advanced LED engine offers unprecedented output in its class, making the fixture perfect for any type of showcase event or installation where dynamic, articulated lighting is a key component. At the same time this whisper-quiet, flicker-free luminaire also meets the stringent criteria required by the broadcast / TV world.

Impression S350

The S350 is characterized by its perfect white light LED-engine with full spectrum to create saturated and pastel colors (with optimized CRI in excess of 90). The other outstanding feature is the four-blade framing system, with each blade of the framing system able to fully close across the beam and pitch through 60 degrees. The whole framing unit can be rotated through 90 degrees. Smooth dimming and even field distribution are other stand out features.

Impression FR1

The FR1 is one of the most compact automated lighting packages available today. Using a single, high-powered 60-Watt RGBW LED at its core, the FR1 features color mixing across a vast spectrum, while projecting a crisp, punchy white light, with a full range of color temperature control. The FR1 provides a clean, homogenized output at all angles, making it suitable for a large range of applications, while a fast 3.5 to 34 degree zoom range gives full beam control.

KNV Cube & KNV Arc

The IP54-rated KNV LED system can be used either individually or in combination. Designers can take advantage of two basic forms: the cube-shaped KNV Cube and the KNV Arc, a device in the form of an eighth circle. Billed as the first frameless LED module in the market to combine Strobe, Blinder and Pixel-Block, it looks set to become a game-changer, as it allows production designers to effortlessly build unique structures and create a huge variety of shapes that tune lighting into scenery.

GLP Announces Impression Spot One LED Profile LED Moving Light

The Impression Spot One features an RGB LED engine with 8 or 16-bit control over each color, allowing for incredibly delicate color changes or instantaneous color bumps. The spectrum it achieves has been calibrated to be as wide as possible — from soft pastel colors to deep saturated shades, and everything in between. The color field also remains even across the entire beam, no matter the size or sharpness of focus. The electronic control of the LED engine allows full and smooth dimming over the entire range along with fast, solid state intensity snaps and variable speed strobe rates of between 1 and 10 flashes per second.

It has been designed for operation in noise-sensitive environments and will be as perfectly at home on a balcony rail in a Broadway theatre as it will in a busy TV studio environment, or touring the world as part of a concert system.

To control beam size output, the Impression Spot One features a high speed, fully variable iris — with an incredibly high speed of just 0.2 seconds from fully open to closed.

Also in the optical effects section of the fixture is a variable speed and bi-directional rotating prism, giving additional effects to the output beam, whether to create additional gobo images, to add an extra dimension to effects from the graphic wheel or to expand the beam even further in its simplest form.

Being an LED based fixture GLP has been able to keep the weight and size of the fixture as low as possible. Matching the impression Meisterstuck in terms of its baseless yoke, the impression spot one weighs just 48.5 lbs. / 22 kg. For ease of use anywhere around the world, the fixture also features a fully auto sensing power supply which operates anywhere from 100-240V at 50/60 Hz.

GLP Launhes New Division – Scenex Lighting

GLP (German Light Products), has announced the launch of Scenex Lighting; a new company division focused on the scenic elements of todays entertainment lighting industry.
Using LED technology at its core, Scenex Lighting is distributing a range of different fixtures and elements allowing designers to integrate and enhance set pieces with other lighting elements of a show design in a seamless and stylish fashion.
With its product design center based in Germany, the launch product range includes a new dedicated truss toner fixture, utilizing 12 tricolor 3 Watt LED’s, the fixture gives a tight 10 degree beam with a bright output and features data in/out and power in/out connectors mounted on the side of the fixture allowing back to back mounting, and ingeniously comes in a square format to light square truss.

Also available are a full range of low profile LED tapes, in both flexible and fixed housings and rated up to IP55. Incorporating high output LED’s, tapes are available in a variety of colors, color temperatures, and as full color mixing RGB. Flexible tapes have been designed for re-use on temporary sets and stages with the fixed housing tapes geared towards long term productions and permanent installations.

Further products include a range of decorative fixtures including wall and counter mount fixtures with diffuse integral RGB lighting for subtle enhancements, all of which allow easy integration to a productions main lighting scheme. The range even includes 360 degree color mixing globes in sizes of up to 3 feet in diameter.

GLP Ignition Truss Toner System

GLP or German Light Products debuted a new truss toner system at LDI this year.

It has quite a few things going for it- relatively light weight, 5 pin data and Powercon pass through, great color rendering, and pretty bright based on the number of LEDs it has. Oh, can’t forget that it’s RDM compliant.

There are removable wings on the sides so the unit can sit snuggly at the base of an upright truss or used to secure it in a flown truss. And see those corners? They fit just on the inside of the truss bolts.

According to the rep on the floor that I spoke to there is only a 12 square truss model but plans for larger and irregular sizes are in the works. At time of writing there is still nothing on their website, and no price was mentioned.

GLP Introduces Volks|Light LED Moving Head

GLP or German Light Products has been steadily releasing new LED fixtures this year.  If the pace keeps up, they will have brought six new fixtures to the market by the end of the year.  This time around, GLP introduces their Volks|Light LED moving head. The Volks|Light uses 60 Luxeon Rebel high power LED’s with a life expectancy of 50,000 lamp hours.

You will find 21 Blue, 21 Green and only 18 Red LEDs within the fixture with a 11 degree feild angle.  Their is a 24 degree angle that is optional. The Volks|Light operates in 8bit mode for color and timing while Pan and tilt operate in 16bit mode for course and fine control. Thus requiring 13 DMX address to operating including timing on the fixture, speed, shutter, dimmer and of course macro’s on color. So yes, the Volks|Light operates of standard DMX protocol.  What is disappointing is that it uses a 3pin XLR connector rather then the industry standard 5pin.

Weighing in at just over 17lbs, the fixture is light weight and can be mounted in almost any position. As it is an LED fixture, the Volks|Light consumes 180 watts of power at full on and operates between 100v ~ 240v.  I could not find any specific information on output or pricing of the fixture.

GLP Announces Five Color Impression XL

GLP Impression XLGLP or German Light Products from you guessed it, Germany has just announced a new addition to their Impression line of LED moving head lights, the Impression XL.

GLP has taken their work horse of an LED fixture and added two color temperatures of white, 2300k and 7200k, LEDs to the fixture giving a larger color palette to chose from.  The Impression Xl still uses the 240 K2 LEDs with Red, Green and Blue.

The GLP impression XL weighs only 23.5 kg / 52 lbs. and has the same design as previous impression fixtures featuring no fixture base, low noise operation, simple yet comprehensive menu navigation by thumbwheel and multiple rigging options. The fixture comes fitted with a 10 degree lens as standard, but 25 degree and 40 degree interchangeable lenses are available as optional extras. Further accessories such as honeycomb fronts, Spillring, flight cases and a five-unit ‘flower’ rigging option are also available.
