MA Lighting Announces onPC Command Wing

The MA onPC command wing paves the way for mobile use of the highly flexible and powerful grandMA2 control system. In combination with the free of charge grandMA2 onPC software, the MA onPC command wing is a portable 2,048 parameter control solution that can be used nearly in any location – and all for an affordable price.

Designed as the perfect hardware expansion to the grandMA2 onPC software, the MA onPC command wing enables the look and feel of the software to be as close to a real grandMA2 console as possible. Thanks to the MA onPC command wing – incorporating the command section of the grandMA2 consoles – it has never been easier to use the grandMA2 onPC software. With a simple USB connection between the MA onPC command wing and the computer running the grandMA2 onPC software, all inputs and outputs of a grandMA2 console are available to the user. DMX, Midi, Timecode and Analogue Remote are all on hand directly at the MA onPC command wing.

Wherever it is physically difficult to use a grandMA2 console, the MA onPC command wing, in conjunction with the grandMA2 onPC software, enables the customer to program or playback within the grandMA2 world.

Due to its compact size the MA onPC command wing is perfect for traveling – even as hand luggage on a plane. However the MA onPC command wing is not only designed for tours. It is also ideal for smaller shows and clubs, for programming in a theatre auditorium as well as for pre-programming. It’s also the perfect choice for any MA enthusiast to enter the world of MA Lighting.
If 2048 parameters are not enough, the MA onPC command wing can be expanded by using one of the existing MA 2Port node options. To do this you can either use an MA 2Port Node onPC or an MA 2Port Node onPC PRO. An MA 2Port Node onPC will give 512 additional parameters and an MA 2Port Node onPC PRO will add 1,024 parameters. As MA Lighting sticks to its rules, an MA 2Port Node onPC only counts once and only the one with the most parameters is added. Means if you add a second MA 2Port Node onPC it just provides additional DMX connectors.

Pricing has not yet been confirmed. The onPC Command Wing is expected to be released the first quarter of 2012. One other thing to note, the faders are not motorized. For further information, visit wing.malighting.com.

UPDATE: The north American retail price for the onPC Command Wing through ACT Lighting is $8,250.00

MA Lighting Releases grandMA V2.3[6.6]

MA Lighting has published the software release version [2.3][6.6]. MA has integrated a lot of very useful new features into this release that enhance the performance of the grandMA2 even more.

As this release offers so many new and powerful features especially regarding effects we kindly ask you to read the following paragraph as well as the release notes very carefully before updating to the new software version.

Important!
–  Updating to this release version 2.3 of grandMA2 the values and effect values are divorced! Therefore older showfiles might not be 100% compatible. Therefore please check your showfile with the new version before using it live!

–  If you would like to update your dimMA system from any version below 6.x please contact your MA-dealer or MA directly for any update information. Should you be using grandMA2 in connection to our dimMA solutions, please get in touch with us, since a console update will now require an MA NDP update and vice versa. We are happy to assist you.

–  The current versions of grandMA2 onPC and grandMA 3D require minimum Windows XP with Service Pack 3. Furthermore the latest version of Microsoft’s Net. Framework (4.0) will be installed on your computer, if not already installed.

Please note that the connection of external touch screens is now possible, therefore we have published our hardware recommendations in our support area too.

The new software version can be downloaded here. Please read the release notes too!

World Expo 2010 Shanghai China Opening Ceremonies

The World Expo 2010 Shanghai is happening right now in China.  Actually, it started back on May 1st so we are 5 days into it.  At least at the time of this writing, China is 5 days into it, we, state side are only 4 days into it.  The World Expo 2010 Shanghai runs for just a bit, till October 31, 2010.

World Expositions are galleries of human inspirations and thoughts. Since 1851 when the Great Exhibition of Industries of All Nations was held in London, the World Expositions have attained increasing prominence as grand events for economic, scientific, technological and cultural exchanges, serving as an important platform for displaying historical experience, exchanging innovative ideas, demonstrating esprit de corps and looking to the future.

A good friend of mine, Bar-B-Que Aficionado and lover of light sent me a note about some pretty crazy stuff going on at the opening ceremonies of the World Expo 2010. Crazy stuff as in some pretty awesome lighting, video and pyro! The opening ceremonies have been uploaded into YouTube, but had to be broken into three separate videos due to YouTube’s restrictions.  Take look, just turn down the volume unless you can speak Mandarin. Oh yeah, it is all being run off grandMA2’s!

Show Your MA Love While You Work

MA Lighting Waterproof FleeceAre you a grandMA user/fan?  Why not show your love off for the company that makes the grandMA, MA Lighting out of Germany.  I just learned of MA’s newest website, www.ma-merchandising.com.

On the site, you can purchase a number of articles of clothing with the MA Lighting Logo on it.  Anything from Polos, Fleece, Caps and Jackets.  They also have a workwear section with tool bags, gloves and even some spiffy work pants!

The thing I have my eye on is the MA Waterproof Fleece pictured left at 42,90 € or about $70 USD.  All of these items ship from over seas to the US and does not include shipping or tax.
