ABTT Show Starts This Week

Another week, another trade show is happeing some where in the world.  Last week was InfoComm, this week brings the ABTT or The Association of British Theatre Technicians in London England.  The ABBT show takes place at the Royal Horticultural Halls starting Wednesday, June 16th and ending Thursday June 17th. The show opens at 10:30am on Wednesday and 10am on Thursday.  You can still register for the show on site in Lindley Hall near the Vincent Square entrance.

This is just another show that I wish I could make, but a large body of water prevents that!  With almost 100 exhibitors, British and European techs will have plenty to look at and learn at the show. Peter Kirkup, our friend from England and product manager for Zero 88 will be attending and hopefully give us some insight into the show.  Learn more about ABTT and the ABTT Show by visiting www.abtt.org.uk and www.abtttheatreshow.co.uk.

Friday Flickr Lighting Porn – Martin Goodman

This weeks Friday Flickr Lighting Porn comes for the other side of the pond by Lighting Designer Martin Goodman. The above photo is from the 2009 production of The Life at The Albany in London England. Martin used some very saturated colors along with projections to help dive the point home that living and working on the city streets is a tough and dangerous place.  Want to see more of Martin’s lighting design work of The Life, visit his Flickr Set of all 52 photos he took of the production.  Thanks Martin for adding this to the Friday Flickr Lighting Pool.

Want to see your lighting design work featured here on iSquint?  Every Friday, (well, almost every Friday), a photo is chosen at random from the Friday Flickr Lighting Porn Pool on Flickr and featured here.  Be sure to add your lighting design work and a few details about the photo and production.

Are you planning on attending PLASA at Earls Court in London next week? You’re not?! Neither are we. We just could not swing the trip over the great big blue.  But have no fear, there are some UK based designers and friends that will be covering the show for all of us giving you and me updates via their website’s and twitter feeds.
