iOS App: Remote-Seq for Martin LightJockey

You may have heard about BLAST Co before. Earlier this month they released an iOS app called Remote-Cue. Just like Remote-Cue, Remote-Seq is an iOS app that connects and functions with Martin Professionals LightJockey control software.

The Remote-Seq App allows you to remotely SquenceFlash any playback with in your LightJockey show right from your iOS device. You can Sequence latch/flash playback which can be assigned and play back in any of the 20 banks of 10 pages.

Remote-Seq also offers a MasterControl function too. MasterControl can be used as a Fade in/out and Black Out or Restore.  MasterControl is not a fader, but executes with a single button that has timing from one second to 10 seconds.

Learn more about BLAST Co’s Remote-Seq app and pick up a copy of the app for $2.99 USD from the iTunes App Store.

iPad App: Remote-Cue for Martin LightJockey

Martin Professional already has the MaxRemote iPhone app for their Maxyz series of consoles.  In steps a third party app developer, BLAST Co that developed an iPad app that connects to Martin’s LightJockey PC based lighting controller.

Remote-Cue connects to LightJockey via a WiFI network through Martins LJManager. Just like any iOS remote app for lighting desk control, you get functions for remotely controlling and playback on the iPad.

Some of the functions Remote-Cue offers:

  • Cue Playback
  • Sequence Mode
  • Focuse Mode
  • MasterControl

Check out the 8 minute demo video that BLAST Co put together showing off the app in action.

Remote-Cue has a hefty price tag for iOS apps at $24.99.  But with any app, if it makes our lives easier and make focus/hang go that much easier, $25 is nothing compared to the amount of time saved.  You can pick up a copy of Remote-Cue from the iTunes app store. You can learn more about Remote-Cue by visiting BLAST Co’s web site at www.blast-4.com.

Martin Professional Introduces IP66 LED Fixture: Tripix Wash

Martin Professional announces the latest addition to its very popular Tripix Range™ of products – the Tripix Wash™.

The Tripix Wash is a stylish IP66 lighting fixture with superb color mixing, thanks to pre-mixed LEDs and custom lenses, which eliminate unwanted color separation.  The result is no color shadows and a broad palette, including stunning whites, subtle pastels and vibrant saturated colors.

The Tripix Wash is ideal for installations such as flood lighting the sides of buildings or uplighting applications requiring high output (1400 lumens) from a narrow source.  Available in very narrow, narrow, medium or wide beam angles, the Tripix Wash also works seamlessly with the existing Tripix linear fixtures – Tripix 300 and 1200™.

All Tripix fixtures can run in parallel on the same line of slim and robust cabling from a choice of indoor or outdoor IP66 power supplies.  Control is very easy using either standard DMX or sixty-four prebuilt standalone programs.

Martin Releases v2.80 for M1, M-PC & Maxxyz Desk AND Expands M1 to 16 Universes

This is what I love about lighting desk as of late.  You want a new feature or more capabilities, just wait for the next FREE software update!  Since most desk these days are computer passed, getting new features on your desk of choice is as simple as running an update.  Martin Professional is a prime example of that with the release of version 2.80 for the M1, M-PC and Maxxyz desk.

Here is more from Martin:

By adding a host of new features, including full RDM support and introducing a new DMX licensing system, version 2.8 software for Martin’s M1, M-PC and Maxxyz lighting consoles is a milestone release that further enhances the value of Martin’s professional controller line for its rapidly growing user base.

Over the past year, Martin has positioned its controller systems as a feature-packed, powerful, but affordable solution in the professional lighting market by offering attractive solutions without compromising the usability and quality of the hardware.

RDM Support
Martin continues its company-wide support of the RDM standard by adding a comprehensive RDM control system to its controllers. Users can now monitor RDM-enabled fixtures connected to a Martin console either directly inside the software or remotely from a website hosted inside the console. This features the ability to download status reports across the Internet, showing real world usability of RDM and adding real value for the customer. RDM is supported over the integrated DMX ports and over Artnet.

DMX Remote Input and Capture
It is now possible to receive up to 16 Universes of DMX input for remote control of cues, fixture levels or simply to manage HTP and LTP merging of an additional lighting desk into the system. 16 Universes can also be captured into the console programmer to read out cues from existing shows into the console. The comprehensive DMX Input feature set allows Martin’s controllers to stay at the heart of the DMX system while having full control over the merging behavior.

Quick-Peek
A new innovative feature is the ability to “peek” at any screen view. Holding down a screen-view button for more than two seconds automatically enters the Quick-Peek function. The view reverts to the original one once the button is released, allowing for quick glances at information on the desk while reducing unnecessary button presses.

Customizable Function Keys
Martin controllers are known for their elegant and uncluttered hardware surfaces. To enhance fast access to often used functionality, all consoles offer a variety of F-Keys which now have a newly designed management system for fast configuration by the operator. Functions include Group and Preset selects, console locking, semitransparent onscreen keyboard, and many more useful options right at a user’s fingertips.

Martin One-Key DMX Licensing
With Version 2.80, the Martin M1 console increases its DMX support from 12 to 16 Universes. Additional Universes to the 4 included in the standard package of the desk can be added by purchasing a license package, connecting Martin’s Ether2DMX8 devices or by connecting a Martin One-Key with an M-PC license. More Universes are simply added dynamically as soon as the additional license is seen by the M1 console. This allows Martin M1 programmers to bring their own Martin One-Key and unlock any M1 console immediately for their shows, independent of the DMX Universes activated in the console.

Version 2.80 also increases existing Maxxyz PC and M-PC systems to 64 Universes from 32, and includes balanced multi-threaded DMX processing for modern multi-core CPUs. Version 2.80 software is available at www.martin.com.

Martin Professional Announces EasyPix, Super Simple LED Striplight

Easypix by Martin Professional is a modular, plug-and-play LED striplight designed to enhance interior spaces in a wide variety of applications. It is built for ultimate ease-of-use with full spectrum RGB color mixing, a choice of diffuser lenses, and an exceptionally easy means of installation.

Easypix is exceptionally bright compared to similar products in its range with an RGB color mixing system that excels at producing saturated colors. Four easy-to-swap beam options are available – very narrow, narrow, medium and wide – and an attractive design allows Easypix to blend inconspicuously into existing architecture.

Easypix is available in two lengths – 300 mm (1 ft) and 1200 mm (4 ft) – for greater design flexibility and is simple to assemble and set up. Multiple units can be daisy chained via RJ 45 connectors and Easypix can easily be clicked onto any standard 35mm DIN top-hat rail, limiting installation and set-up time. Easypix includes multiple control options (RGB and HSI) for simple to comprehensive control. Sixty-four ready-to-go stand-alone programs provide for ultimate ease of use.

Martin Professional Announces M-PC Control Software

Following the successful launch of the M1 lighting controller, Martin Professional introduces two new PC-based controllers to its lineup.

The M-PC Pro, which replaces the original Maxxyz PC, includes all the features of the Maxxyz PC plus all new features from the new M1 console. In addition, M-PC Pro has been upgraded from 32 to 64 DMX universes over standard Artnet or by using the Martin USB DUO DMX™, making it some of the most powerful PC-based lighting software ever made.

For budget-oriented applications, the M-PC Basic offers the same feature set as the M-PC Pro but can generate a maximum of 8 DMX universes. Both M-PC Pro and M-PC Basic come with the MSD5 (Martin ShowDesigner) MC Edition 3D Visualizer and one Martin USB DUO DMX.

In the same round of new releases, Martin also announces the addition of an M-PC 8 universes license to the Martin Ether2DMX8 Artnet to DMX converter. Once connected to a PC, the Ether2DMX8 will activate the M-PC Basic.

I personally am still waiting in the wings for Martin to realize that I am a Mac person and not a windows user.  The M-PC is a windows only program…. at the moment hopefully. Learn more about the M-PC by visiting Martin’s website at www.martin.com.

Martin One-Key, Desk Updates and Protection Made Simple

Martin Professional One-Key is a future-proof concept in lighting software distribution that eliminates the inconvenience of storing software licenses in DMX hardware. This simple USB dongle can store one or more licenses and protects the software from illegal copies.

Martin One-Key simplifies software distribution, improves protection and protects investments. All Martin Professional PC-based applications will eventually share this same protection method.

No longer will software licenses be stored in DMX hardware that becomes obsolete after a few years, or worse, becomes defective and renders the software unusable.

With Martin One-Key, adding new software is a few click process; no need to wait for a box to be delivered. In addition, Martin One-Key allows any user to try Martin Professional software for a 45-day trial period with full features.

Martin One-Key is currently bundled with the following products:

  • LightJockey 2™ Kit
  • M-PC-Basic  8™ universes Kit
  • M-PC Pro 64™ universes Kit
  • MSD5 Gold™
  • MSD5 Live™
  • MSD5 Live-4™

Furthermore, owners of Martin One-Key can order additional software applications by purchasing a software-only license.

  • LightJockey 2 (4 universe license code only )
  • M-PC Basic (8 universe max license code only)
  • M-PC Pro (64 universe max license code only)
  • MSD5 licenses through www.martinshowdesigner.com

The Martin Booth at LDI 2010 & Programmer Matthias Hinrichs

If you attended LDI 2010, you had to stop by or at least heard the Martin booth from any where on the trade show floor.  Every hour, the Martin booth came alive and put on a three minute show demonstrating what their fixtures can do.  I of course shot a quick video of the entire demo as well as snagged a quick interview of programing genius Matthias Hinrichs, Controls Product Manager for Martin Professional.

Matthias talks about what is in the booth, and just how much fun and easy it was to program the booth in just 12 hours on the brand new Martin M1 Console with time code.  Take a look at both videos, they are mind blowing!

Thanks Matthias, great job!
