More from the Press Release:

Robe goes Mega tomorrow morning with the global launch of its much anticipated new multi-functional moving light fixture … the MegaPointe!

This hugely innovative new “reference point” and landmark product is revealed worldwide on www.robe.cz from midnight tonight – 12.00 a.m. Tuesday 5th September 2017 Central European Timezone (CET).

Just click on the MEGA icon ..

This follows a series of eye-catching and intriguing teaser videos “Now there is MEGA” which have generated a huge amount of excitement globally throughout lighting and visual communities.

MegaPointe is set to define new standards and expectations in moving light technology … taking the original concept of the all-in-one fixture … to a whole new level.

Utilizing an exclusive 470W short-arc lightsource, Robe’s diligently crafted MegaPointe optics produce phenomenally bright parallel beams, incredible spot gobo projections, together with super-quick movement, smooth CMY colour mixing and a multitude of effects available for splitting and shaping the light in Spot, Beam or Wash modes.

The zoom ranges from 1.8 to 21 degrees in Beam mode – tight, powerful and punchy, and goes from 3 to 42 degrees in Spot mode with crystal clear high-clarity output through a 150 mm diameter front lens, with a stunning total lumen output of 20.375 and an impressive CRI of over 80.

Inventive, different in-air projections can be created using the new Effects Engine, pre-loaded with 12 dynamic beam and flower effects, and can be further finessed using the beam shaper which can emulate framing shutter effects and create rectangular shapes as well as being rotatable and indexable.

Utilising the ‘light’ and medium’ frost filters with any combination of colours from the CMY mixing system produces a beautiful, smooth, even wash coverage.

There is a static 14-slot plus open gobo wheel fitted with glass gobos for precision surface projections and exciting in-air impressions, and a second wheel contains 9 rotating, indexable and replaceable gobos.

These can be combined with a variable speed, bi-directional animation wheel which can be used in conjunction with any of the gobos or on its own to enhance or produce exceptionally subtle and detailed effects and projections.

A remote adjustable hot-spot control can further influence the appearance of the lightsource, and there is yet more versatility with a series of pre-programmable ‘random’ strobe and pulse effects.

In keeping with Robe’s commitment to smaller-brighter-lighter fixtures … It weighs only 22Kgs (48.5lbs)!

MegaPointe draws on Robe’s expertise as a premium moving light manufacturer and has been developed by the R ‘n’ D team working in close collaboration with valuable input from lighting professionals to develop another outstanding product.

Robe’s Pointe –- revolutionary at the time – was launched in 2013 and led the way as the first truly multi-functional moving light taking the industry by storm and established new standards of flexibility and choice for LDs, programmers and operators. It continues to be one of the company’s best-selling products.

MiniPointe was launched in 2015 to bring all the well-loved Pointe dynamics to small-to-medium applications … and now the family is completed with the MegaPointe, which takes everything up several notches with refined touches enhancements like CMY colour mixing and blistering brightness.

This multi-functional, multi-purpose luminaire is perfect for live concerts, festivals, EDM & dance extravaganzas, TV productions, outdoor spectaculars and all types of live events and permanent installations.

The first MegaPointes were live in action a week before the launch … on the Main Stage production lighting rig designed by Sander den Otter for Mysteryland 2017, the Netherlands’ oldest and most original dance music extravaganza this year staged over two days at Haarlemmermeerse Bos, Amsterdam, and produced by ID&T.

MegaPointes made a big impact on the main stage of the first ever New Horizons EDM / dance music event at Nürburgring, Germany, part of a production design by Andre Beekmans from NL based creative practice, The Art of Light.

The launch is supported by worldwide product demonstrations and roadshows via Robe’s subsidiaries and distributor network – so everyone has a good chance to see the product for real, and the units are ready for immediate shipping.

A full list of international MegaPointe events is available on www.robe.cz

MegaPointes will appear on their first international trade show at PLASA London, September 17th – 19th, where visitors can catch a live version of the uber-cool video launch show.

Elation Releases Upgraded Platinum Spot 5R Moving Head

Elation has introduced the Platinum Spot 5R Pro, an upgraded version of its Platinum Spot 5R DMX moving head, which was introduced to the entertainment lighting industry last year with its ability to produce 575-watt-like brightness from an ultra-compact unit that’s half the size and weight of a typical 575-watt fixture, uses half as much energy and offers a much longer 2,000-hour lamp life.

Like the original, the new Platinum Spot 5R Pro delivers these same capabilities thanks to its Philips MSD Platinum 5R Lamp Technology, an innovation that allows the creation of fixtures that are brighter and more powerful with superior light quality, yet are also faster, smaller, lighter weight, draw less energy and have longer-lasting lamps. But as its name suggests, the Platinum Spot 5R Pro also goes a step beyond to offer an expanded array of professional features and effects, making it the ultimate moving head spot for theaters, stage shows, concerts, productions, churches, nightclubs and other entertainment venues.

Among the new features on the Platinum Spot 5R Pro are a 16-bit CMY color-mixing system, which allows users to concoct a dazzling palette of custom colors, and a Variable Zoom (4 to 1) with 11° to 42° beam angle.  Additionally, the “Pro” model is equipped with a built-in EWDMX Wireless DMX Receiver, capable of receiving DMX signals wirelessly from up to 3,000’ away that are sent via an Elation EWDMXT wireless DMX transmitter (sold separately).

n addition to its CMY color mixing system, Zoom and Wireless DMX receiver, the Platinum Spot 5R Pro is packed with all the great design tools and features found on the original, such as 8 vibrant dichroic colors, 22 gobos (8 rotating/indexing, 14 static), and a 3-facet rotating prism.  The Platinum Spot 5R Pro also has a Variable Frost Filter, which allows it to function as a hybrid spot/wash fixture; the frost diffuses its hard-edge spot beam into a wash-like effect, giving the unit even greater versatility.  Other features include a Motorized Iris, Motorized Focus, Variable Speed Shutter/Strobe and 0-100% Mechanical Dimmer.  In addition to its Wireless DMX receiver, the Platinum Spot 5R Pro includes 3-pin and 5-pin DMX connections.

Capable of operating in three different DMX channel modes, the standard being 23 channels, the Platinum Spot 5R Pro has a 540° (630° optional) pan and 265° tilt.  Another advantage of its innovative design is that it can move faster than traditional moving heads on pan and tilt, as well as on color/gobo changes.

At 16’ distance, the Platinum Spot 5R Pro has an output of 6,350 LUX/ 590 foot-candles.  Yet the energy-efficient unit consumes only 305 watts of electricity at maximum use.  Much smaller than a conventional 575-moving head fixture, the Platinum Spot 5R Pro measures 14.6’L x 14.5”W x 18.4”H/ 371 x 368 x 467mm, and weighs 42 lbs./ 19 kg.  cETLus certification is currently pending and expected to be issued in March 2011.

The retail price of the Upgraded Elation Platinum Spot 5R is $4,199.95.  Learn more about the fixture at Elation’s website, www.elationlighting.com.

PRG to Re-Introduce Bad Boy With CMY Mixing at PLASA 2010

At the PLASA show later early next week, PRG, Production Resource Group, will be re-introducing their Bad Boy moving light with CMY mixing. If you remember correctly, the “orginial” Bad Boy used sets of color wheels to mix and combine colors.  After listening to designers and technicians, PRG has re-designed the moving light to include CMY mixing.

The Bad Boy still is capable of producing a powerful 48,000 lumens, the Bad Boy CMY couples its high-definition optics with a Philips MSR Gold FastFit lamp that can be set to levels 900W, 1,200W, or 1,400W. Boasting an optical efficiency of over 40%, Bad Boy CMY doubles standard efficiencies, marrying both brightness and green product ideals without compromise.

No additional information has been made available about the “new” Bad Boy with CMY mixing.  If you are attending the PLASA show next week in London, be sure to stop by and check out the all new PRG Bad Boy.

Robe to Launch ROBIN 600 & 300 LEDWash Fixtures at PLASA 2010

Robe launches its amazing new ROBIN 600 and 300 LEDWash fixtures at PLASA 2010 – these are 2 of a raft of 9 new environmentally friendly lighting fixtures slated for release at PLASA. Apart from the low energy consumption, both fixtures incorporate a smooth, homogenised light engine and emit a fabulous quality of light similar to that of a conventional source, but hugely brighter at a fraction of the power.

ROBIN LEDWash 600

The super-slim ROBIN LEDWash 600 features 37 x 10 Watt RGBW multichip LEDs that are each individually controllable. These are arranged in 3 concentric rings designed for creating stunning colour and pattern effects when pointed towards an audience …. as well as for providing comprehensive, even wash coverage of performers, stages, spaces, scenery, etc.

The 3 LED rings are completely unique (patent pending) and sets the LEDWash 600 aside from other LED wash light products, also making it a truly ‘multi-purpose’ unit. The inner and middle rings can be dimmed leaving only the outer ring for tunnel effects and fading and chasing simultaneously between all 3 rings can create some truly psychedelic and mind-blowing kaleidoscopic effects. The unit can also be strobed and pre-programmed with random pulse strobe effects.

The 10W RGBW multichips deliver a whole array of true colours – from the richest saturates to the subtlest and most delicate of pastels – and can be output as pure colour without any ‘pixelation’ or blockiness. The 4-in-1 multichip also enables a true white to be produced as well as a whole spectrum of different colour temperature whites. The 15 – 45 degree motorised zoom is also an extremely versatile feature that will enhance the scope for all types of applications.

ROBIN LEDWash 300

This is a very compact fixture weighing a mere 10 Kgs – so ideal for all small-to-medium applications, particularly those where space and accessibility is an issue.
It utilises 108 single RGB 3 Watt LEDs and has a motorised zoom of between 12 and 40 degrees giving great flexibility. The life expectance of the lamp is 50,000 hours and once again, superior homogenisation of the lightsource ensures completely smooth colour mixing and a dynamic array of true colours and hues.
Both ROBIN 300 and 600 LEDWashes have a self-levelling LED touch screen display with full battery backup, so the fixtures can be set up without hard power. The thermal and movement sensor system monitors the units during transport and operation, and they will work with all current available control protocols, including DMX512, ArtNet, RDM, MANet, MA2 Net, etc., along with all the other products in the ROBIN range.

Other benefits of LED units include low maintenance, and the compact size of both fixtures make them ideal for expedient flight-casing, so more fixtures to be packed in a truck for less space.

Convert a MAC 2000 Wash into a MAC 2000 Beam Without Magic, Just a Conversion Kit

Martin Professional has now made it possible to easily convert two of the most advanced wash lights on the market – the Martin MAC 2000 Wash XB and MAC 2000 Wash – into a powerful beam fixture with an inexpensive conversion kit that installs in minutes.

Ideal for any large scale event where both beam and wash effects are required such as stadium and arena shows, the conversion kit gets the most out of existing lighting gear, eliminating the need to invest in a completely new fixture.

Simple, inexpensive upgrade
The MAC 2000 Beam XB upgrade kit consists of a new front lens module with micro-Fresnel lens and a set of four beam effect gobos/apertures. The kit installs in less than 5 minutes and also works with the MAC 2000 Wash. Components can be easily uninstalled and the fixture returned to a standard Wash configuration at any time.

Super bright
The 1500 W MAC 2000 Beam XB delivers a fat, tight and amazingly bright hard edge beam, perfect for big beam effects and long throws. Even at very narrow beam angles, output is outstanding with very high intensity. An electronic ballast offers hot-lamp re-strike and the advantage of flicker-free light.

High efficacy and efficient optics
The extremely high output from the MAC 2000 Beam XB is made possible by a combination of high efficacy and very efficient optics. If users require the fixture to match the power output of existing 1200 W fixtures, a reduced 1200 W mode can be employed, saving energy and increasing lamp life.

Compact yet loaded
Despite a surprisingly compact size, the MAC 2000 Beam XB includes all the proven features of the MAC 2000 Wash XB including full color mixing, color wheel, smooth dimming, strobe, variable CTC and zoom (wash effect).

Seamless color mixing plus color wheel
A CMCY color mixing system offers a broad spectrum of colors. A four-position (plus open) color wheel is interchangeable, allowing designers to customize shades and complement perfectly the color mixing system.

Smooth dimming and strobe
The fixture allows for very smooth fading via a combined dimmer/shutter. Mechanical dimming is from 0 to 100%, and the shutter offers rapid strobe effects up to 10 Hz with instant open and blackout. In addition to mechanical dimming, an optional dimming wheel can replace the color wheel.

Color temperature flexibility
A continuously variable color correction system adds the flexibility to gradually and smoothly increase or decrease color temperature. It is also useful when working alongside tungsten halogen or for smoothing out color temperature inconsistencies when working alongside older lamps.

Beam effect gobos
A gobo wheel with 4 static beam effect gobos/apertures plus open allows for wider or tighter beam effects as well as multiple beams or cone looks.

Zoom option wash effect
With a motorized zoom option, the fixture generates a wash effect instead of a hard-edge beam. The wash effect can be zoomed from tight to wide.

Proven reliability
The MAC 2000 Beam XB keeps the same optical train, effects and form as the MAC 2000 Wash XB, guaranteeing advantages such as proven reliability.

Elation Announces E Spot LED Moving Light

The new E Spot LED from Elation Professional has got a lot of people buzzing about just what the “E” in its name stands for. “Energy Efficient” is one likely guess, because this compact LED-powered DMX spot fixture produces an output that’s brighter than a typical 150-watt discharge lamp, yet it uses less than half the electricity.

“Exciting” would be an equally good choice, considering that the E Spot LED is loaded with DMX-operational features and effects, including 8 dichroic colors, 7 rotating gobos, 3 rotating prisms, variable speed Shutter/Strobe, 0-100% Electronic Dimming, Motorized Focus and more – all packed into an incredibly small, lightweight case.

Which brings up another “E” — “Everywhere” – which is literally where the E Spot LED can go. Measuring a mere 8”L 11.8”W x 17.2”H/203.2mm x 299.72mm x 436.88 mm and weighing just 25 lbs./11kg., the pint-sized E Spot LED can be easily taken on tour and to all types of events, and it will fit into the tightest, most cramped spaces.

Bottom line: “Evolution.” The E Spot LED was developed in response to the general industry trend toward increasingly more compact, low-energy-usage lighting fixtures, according to Eric Loader, director of sales for Elation Professional. “Today’s designers and lighting users want scaled-down size and greater energy-efficiency, yet they don’t want to sacrifice brightness and features,” said Loader. “The E Spot LED represents a major advance along these lines — it delivers so much in terms of output and features for its compact size, while consuming less half the energy of a 150-watt discharge fixture. It’s right on target with where today’s lighting market is evolving.”

With razor-sharp optics and a flat beam field, the E Spot LED provides a professional lighting tool for a wide range of applications: nightclubs, theaters, concerts, stage productions, churches and more. Its easy portability is ideal for the rental market, and its flicker-free operation makes it a perfect choice for TV/film production lighting too.

Powered by a CBT-90W white 6500°K LED light source, the E Spot LED features a color wheel with 8 dichroic colors and variable speed color scrolling. Seven rotating/indexing replaceable gobos are also included, with gobo scrolling and a Gobo Shake effect. More eye-popping effects can be created by the unit’s 3 rotating, indexing prisms – a 3-facet, 5-facet and 3D. The E Spot LED has a 15° beam angle and can pan/tilt 540°/ 630° x 265° for wide-ranging coverage.

All of these and its other features, including Shutter/Strobe, Electronic Dimming and Motorized Focus, can be commanded with a standard DMX controller via 12- or 14-channel operation. The E Spot LED also includes 8 built-in programs which can be called up either manually or via DMX. Another convenient feature is Elation’s exclusive RDMX (Remote DMX Addressing), which allows DMX values to be set remotely from the controller itself, eliminating the need to climb on ladders to access installed fixtures.

The E Spot LED produces an output of 960 lux/ 91 foot-candles at 16 feet, while consuming only 180W at maximum use. Not only is it extremely energy efficient, but its solid state LED lamp source emits minimal heat and is rated at 60,000 hours for maintenance-free operation.

The retail price of the Elation E Spot LED is $ 1,999.95.  Learn more about the E Spot LED by visiting Elations web site at www.elationlighting.com or check out the E Spot LED in action via a YouTube video below.

Futurelight Announces EYE-60 LED Washlight

Futurelight EYE 60Futurelight now offers a more compact version of its flagship EYE-108 RGBW – the new LED moving head EYE-60 RGBW. The EYE-60 comes with all features that have made its older brother a convincing tool for all professional light designers.

The EYE-60 just like the EYE-108 offers high luminosity at a low weight and low energy consumption as well as trendsetting color mixing out of the four components red, green, blue, and white for even more color mixing options. Adding a fourth primary color brings a variable color temperature. The difference between the two state-of-the-art multifunctional spots is the number of 3-watt LEDs that was reduced from 108 to 60 (22 x red, 17 x green, 15 x blue, and 6 x white). This equals 250 watts with standard spots with discharge lamps.

Up to 14 EYE-60 RGBW can be operated with a single 16-ampere IEC outlet and including the suspension weigh only a little more than 100 kilograms. This makes the washlight most suitable for a sophisticated light design even on small stages or at crowded venues with limited budget and power supply. With its compact size, running smoothness even at high speed, and high luminosity the EYE-60 RGBW is applicable particularly for galas and fairs, and is simply a must as economic alternative for rental companies and light designers that need to set value on parameters like brightness, weight, power consumption, and speed.

All settings on the washlight can be made quite easily and are well readable thanks to its clearly arranged LCD screen. The ESDC function (easy service data check) of the battery-backed control panel ensures the readout of operating hours and various other parameters at any time – even without mains supply. A time-saving feature for rental companies often faced with a large number of devices.

The EYE-60 RGBW weighs less than 8 kilograms and can be operated at 100 to 240 volts due to its switch mode power supply. Power consumption is at 250 watts maximum.
