NAB Show in Vegas This Week

This week brings the NAB Show or National Association of Broadcasters trade show in fabulous Las Vegas Nevada. I am here this week doing two things, covering the show for our friends and colleges in the TV and Film world. Hey, they have lighting needs too you know! And second, helping out some great friends by being some an air talent!

The fine folks at SeaChanger asked me to join them at NAB to to interview lighting designers from both the theatrical and tv/film world. We’ll be doing interviews all week long right in the SeaChanger booth for use on SeaChangers web site. Why interview folks like this on the show floor and not on a professional sound stage? Part of the draw with NAB is to show tv and film folks how to use and incorporate products into their news gathering efforts. SeaChanger plans on showing attendees and walker-bys just how effective the Nemo is in lighting for camera.

If you haven’t heard of the SeaChanger Nemo, it’s a Plasma light source that not only cuts energy use in over half, but last longer and is even brighter, and hey, it can dial in a specific color too! Rather then me keep drooling over the Nemo here, stop by the SeaChanger booth, C6844 in Vegas and we’ll let the Nemo prove it self!

Zylight Set to Introduce New LED Fixture

Zylight is preparing to launch a new LED studio fixture, the IS3 Studio LED fixture in two weeks at the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) Show in Las Vegas.

Zylight is the maker of the Z90 and Z50 on camera LED lights for the broadcast and film/video industry. They have taken the technology from the on camera lights and produced a studio fixture for use not only the TV studio but any where that LED’s can be utilized.

The IS3’s built-in controls and sunlight readable digital displays allow easy and precise control with no external control boxes to buy. And expanded four-color mixing guarantees accurate color rendering and beautiful skin tones.

From the information that we received, Zylight is boasting that the IS3 is over four times a brighter the other LED lights in it class.  They do not mention which fixtures or class the IS3 is compared to or mention any specific specs on the LED’s themselves.

The IS3 features:

• Fully adjustable +/- green Color Correction
• Full-color output for washes, highlights, green screen, and effects

ETC Offers VIP Pass Codes for USITT & NAB

The good folks over at Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC) have sent us a note about some of the up coming trades that they will be attending. ETC passed along VIP Pass Codes for the USITT (United States Institute for Technical Theatre) and the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) shows.
