Chauvet Prepares to Announce SlimPar Pro Family of LED Fixtures at NAMM

Chauvet Lighting is kicking off the trade show season early with a couple of new LED wash fixtures.  The National Association of Music Merchants Show, or NAMM will be the launching off point for three new fixtures in Chauvets LED fixture line, the SlimPar Pro family of fixtures with the VW, (Variable White), RGBA (Red, Green, Blue, Amber) and the Tri, (RGB).  More from Chauvet.

All three high-power LED wash lights are flicker free—making them a video-friendly choice—and housed in rugged cases. The fixtures fill a small footprint—just over 11 inches high, under 10 inches wide and only 3.5 inches deep—and have hanging brackets which double as a floor stands. The cast aluminum housing protects them from the rigors of the road and helps dissipate heat. The cost-effective line also features locking IEC connectors for power, LED control displays for easy addressing and access to functions, and multiple dimming curves—for smoother dimming no matter what controller is used.

The new SlimPAR™ Pro family can transform virtually any setting into a performance space—nightclub stages, intimate theaters—and is perfect for the mobile performer. The LED-fitted wash lights emit very little heat and have a long performance life. Their extreme portability also makes them perfect for uplighting mobile events and truss warmers.

SlimPAR™ Pro VW is a variable white fixture featuring 36 warm and cool white LEDs. This is particularly useful when matching the color temperature of existing lighting or achieving a specific temperature for video use.

SlimPAR™ Pro RGBA is a wash light featuring red, green, blue and amber LEDs. The addition of amber offers a more complete spectrum in some of the harder-to-create warm colors and also punches up the saturation and vividness of colors in general. This unit is perfect for adding a lot of color to small performance venues.

SlimPAR™ Pro Tri utilizes the latest in tri-color LEDs delivering a uniform output. Eighteen tri-color (RGB) LEDs power the fixture and the color is mixed before the lens which limits any undesirable effects of multi-colored shadows. Eliminating multi-colored shadows also allows the unit to serve admirably as front light.

Well have to wait till after the NAMM show to end later this week to learn a bit more about the new SlimPar Pro series of fixtures.

American DJ Announces Remote Controlled RGB LED Fixtures

Looking to cut the cables and still have some color?  American DJ has the perfect solution for you.  They just announced four new LED fixtures that cut the DMX cable and operate off a hand held infrared remote control.

The first two fixtures are RGB LED par cans, the PRO38B LED RC and the PRO64B LED RC. Both of the par cans use high power 1 watt LEDs.  The PRO38 has 12 LEDs while the PRO64 doubles that at 24 LEDs. The LEDs are evenly split between red, green and blue. Both fixtures offer 30 degree beam spread and 50,000 lamp hours and just 15 watts of power usage for the PRO38 and 30 watts for the PRO64.

American DJ also introduced to color bar fixtures, the Mega Bar 50RGB RC and the Mega Bar LED RC. Both of the Mega Bar fixtures offers a mixture of red, green and blue LEDs to wash almost any surface you can thing of with almost any color of the spectrum.  Additionally, American DJ is stating that the Mega Bar LED fixtures offer 100,000 lamp hours and only draws 30 watts of power.

All four of the LED RC fixtures comes with a hand held wireless infrared RC remote controller that gives you the ability to change any of the fixtures color with presets or manually all from a “tv” style remote.  Now don’t think you can sit back of house and control fixtures in a lay-z-boy.  The remote has a maximum distance of 15 feet.

Chauvet is at it Again, Releases SlimPAR 38 and SlimPAR 64

It seems as though I am writing about a new product from Chauvet Lighting at least once a month.  That is a good thing! I have to give it to Chauvet, they keep coming up with new ideas and fixture designs.

The latest such fixture is the SlimPAR 38 & SlimPAR 64. Both fixtures fit into a pretty small housing at just 2.5″ deep.  With LEDs, a larger back-end isn’t required because there is no reflector.

The SlimPAR 38 has a total of 75 red, green and blue LEDS while the SlimPAR 64 has a total of 180 LEDs.  Both fixtures can operate on 3 or 7 channels of DMX depending on how you like to operate. With the 7 channel control, you get built-in automation effects, sound activated programs and of course STROBING! Everyone one loves a good strobe effect.

Let’s talk power, the fixtures draw less that half and ampere. But there is no mention of what wattage output the LEDs are. Though, at 1 meter, the 38 pumps out 1,500 lux, while the 64 pumps out 3,640 Lux at 1 meter.
