Chauvet Prepares to Announce SlimPar Pro Family of LED Fixtures at NAMM

Chauvet Lighting is kicking off the trade show season early with a couple of new LED wash fixtures.  The National Association of Music Merchants Show, or NAMM will be the launching off point for three new fixtures in Chauvets LED fixture line, the SlimPar Pro family of fixtures with the VW, (Variable White), RGBA (Red, Green, Blue, Amber) and the Tri, (RGB).  More from Chauvet.

All three high-power LED wash lights are flicker free—making them a video-friendly choice—and housed in rugged cases. The fixtures fill a small footprint—just over 11 inches high, under 10 inches wide and only 3.5 inches deep—and have hanging brackets which double as a floor stands. The cast aluminum housing protects them from the rigors of the road and helps dissipate heat. The cost-effective line also features locking IEC connectors for power, LED control displays for easy addressing and access to functions, and multiple dimming curves—for smoother dimming no matter what controller is used.

The new SlimPAR™ Pro family can transform virtually any setting into a performance space—nightclub stages, intimate theaters—and is perfect for the mobile performer. The LED-fitted wash lights emit very little heat and have a long performance life. Their extreme portability also makes them perfect for uplighting mobile events and truss warmers.

SlimPAR™ Pro VW is a variable white fixture featuring 36 warm and cool white LEDs. This is particularly useful when matching the color temperature of existing lighting or achieving a specific temperature for video use.

SlimPAR™ Pro RGBA is a wash light featuring red, green, blue and amber LEDs. The addition of amber offers a more complete spectrum in some of the harder-to-create warm colors and also punches up the saturation and vividness of colors in general. This unit is perfect for adding a lot of color to small performance venues.

SlimPAR™ Pro Tri utilizes the latest in tri-color LEDs delivering a uniform output. Eighteen tri-color (RGB) LEDs power the fixture and the color is mixed before the lens which limits any undesirable effects of multi-colored shadows. Eliminating multi-colored shadows also allows the unit to serve admirably as front light.

Well have to wait till after the NAMM show to end later this week to learn a bit more about the new SlimPar Pro series of fixtures.

Strong Entertainment Shows of the Neeva LED Profile Fixture

Couple of weeks before LDI, I mentioned something about the latest LED product from Strong Entertainment, the Neeva.  This is one of the things that I was dieing to see at LDI and I was some what impressed.

What is neat about the Neeva is that it is the same size as our beloved tungsten fixture that we use day in and day out, but it uses LEDs.  More specifically, it uses RGBA or RGBW depending on which fixture you decide to go with.

What really floored me about the fixture… the price.  The retail price of the fixture is $895.  895 USD DOLLARS!!!  Talk about a mind trip! Here is the quick video I shot of the Neeva on the show floor.

Thanks Paul!

Eurolite Adds Amber to ML-56 LED Par Fixture

Producing warm colors has always been a problem for LEDs. Eurolite has solved this problem and presents the ML-56 RGBA. In addition to its red, green and blue LEDs this spot also possesses amber-colored diodes. Thanks to the fourth color, users now are much more flexible considering the design and thus the influence on the atmosphere. The ML-56 RGBA makes its first appearance at Plasa London.

With its new ML-56 RGBA, Eurolite now offers a spot with a warmer color temperature – similar to incandescent lights and their red colors. By adding the color amber, which is composed of red and yellow, the ordinary RGB color mixing can be “warmed up” individually with the fourth color. Especially noteworthy are the warm orange tone, harmonious color transitions – from red to green in particular – and the mixture of white, which is similar to incandescent light.

Altogether the ML-56 RGBA has been equipped with 36 LEDs, each with 3 watts power and a beam angle of 30°. It can be operated with four or six DMX channels and is available both in black and silver. The common small DIP switches were replaced by a full menu with display and buttons. In so doing, setting DMX becomes considerably easier and 15 color presets can be adjusted directly at the device.

Compared to normal parcans, the ML-56 RGBA are definitely more robust and hence better suited for the road. A fact which is underlined by the weight. The ML weighs five kilograms and therefore twice as much as parcans. But the spot is very versatile and not limited to mobile use on stages or at exhibitions only. Lounges, bars and clubs can also benefit from its remarkable color mixture.
