#USITT2012 TweetUp TONIGHT @ 8pm

Do  you have plans tonight? CANCEL THEM. The official 2012 USITT Tweetup is tonight! What better way to finish out the first day of the show. Sit back, relax and share a beverage along with stories and things you have seen through out the day. Clarification: NO, we do not sit around with our mobile phones to our noses tweeting. So, if you are around, come on by!

TweetUp in Vegas on Monday – BE THERE

I’ll be heading out to Las Vegas early next week to start my new post as Editor of PLSN Magazine.  I’ll be there all week, learning the ropes and helping put out the March issue of the magazine.  Jacob Coakley, the editor of Stage Directions Magazine, a sister magazine of PLSN, and I decided to throw a tweetup together to celebrate my new post and meet some of the great people of Las Vegas.

We will be meeting up at McMullan’s Irish Pub which is a local hang out for many of the industry locals.  We’ll be getting there about 8pm on Monday, February 28th.  Hopefully your show will be dark that night so you can help celebrate as well as meet new and old friends. I know I’ll have a couple pieces of swag to give out!

iSquint & JimOnLight Announce #USITT50 Kansas City’s Evening Party Plan

So over the last several months we’ve been talking about that convention that’s happening in Kansas City next week, and how @lekogirl and @a_mandolin are going to be going head-to-head in a Gaff Dress Challenge at the BMI Supply booth (which is booth 1010, by the way).  Even though apparently none of the lighting bloggers in this world are cool enough to report on the USITT convention in Kansas City, we’re still gonna be there having a good time!

We’ve been discussing the idea of having a one-night Gaff Dress Prom event for all of us crazy entertainment industry people to get gaffed up and have a great time together, do some networking, you know – standard fun stuff.  What I’ve come up with to solve the problems of convention evening scheduling, trying to find a place that will not only let us party but also work on our lighting blogger’s budget (which is typically negative $14 bucks).

Instead of disappointing the masses by having one party night, we’ve decided that we’re going to have a party EVERY NIGHT of USITT, at a different establishment in close proximity to the conference hotel and convention center so that everyone can walk to and fro!  There are some events scheduled between the expo floor’s closing and 10pm most nights, I think, so we’re going to start partying around 9pm each night and go until we’re partied out!

Did I mention that if you come to the party dressed to the nines in gaff tape, you’ll get entered in for some prizes to be given away each night?!  Also, Jim and I will buy you a beverage!  If you’re over 21, it’ll be whatever you want.  Under 21?  Then I will buy you sodas all night!

So:  What have you REALLY got going on that you can’t come hang out with us EVERY NIGHT YOU’RE AT USITT?!

We’re going to announce each location during that day, so keep your eyes on Twitter and Facebook for the hashtag #KCGaffCrawl to pop up and get RT’ed all over the place!

Get Stuck on iSquint

I just received a whole bunch of new iSquint stickers with the new design.  They arrive just in time for the DC Lighting Tweetup tonight! If you are attending the Tweetup tonight, don’t worry, I will have plenty to give out.  But what about those of you that cannot attend?  No worries, fill out the sticker request for and I’ll be happy to send some to you. Reminder: DC #Lighting Tweetup Wednesday

This is a reminder to all of the lighting Tweeples in the Washington DC Metro Area.  This Wednesday is the DC Lighting Tweetup at Murphy’s Grand Irish Pub in Old Town Alexandria.  We are welcoming Peter Kirkup form Zero 88 to the states!

Come join us for a night to get to know your fellow lighting tweeps.  There are happy hour specials most notably the 25 cent wings! There will also be a couple rounds of darts.  I’ll also have some door prizes to give away and a brand spankin new sticker design to give out.
