Lumen Radio to Release CRMX Nova Flex Wireless DMX Device at PLASA 2010

It is a real shame that Lumen Radio is no longer distributed in the United States due to a law suite that is currently underway.  I had a brief time with the wireless DMX products from Lumen Radio and was pretty impressed with it. The ease of use, the design, the software, I loved it all.  But that is all another story.

Next week at the PLASA Show in London England, Lumen Radio will be introducing their latest wireless DMX device, the CRMX Nova Flex and CRMX 2.4/5.8 GHz Cognitive dual band. The design of the CMRX Nova Flex is for the demanding lighting professional who wants one configurable wireless product that can handle any application and environment. The CMRX Nova Flex has the ability to support Ethernet protocols such as Streaming ACN, ETCNet, ShowNet and Art-Net.

LumenRadio is making CRMX 2.4/5.8 GHz Cognitive dual band available as an option across all CRMX product lines. While most users are satisfied with the standard single band 2.4 GHz CRMX Automated Cognitive Coexistence, Lumen Radio decided to add optional dual band operation for those applications that require exceptional performance and reliability. The option comes in the form of a module that at any time can be added to any new or existing CRMX product.

W-DMX Launches BlackBox F-2500 at PLASA 2010

Wireless Solution Sweden AB will be debuting the latest addition to the award-winning W-DMX™ line, the BlackBox F-2500, during PLASA 2010, September 12-15 at Earls Court in London in Stand 1-E43.

The W-DMX™ BlackBox F-2500 is the newest advance in Wireless DMX technology. It’s the world’s first multiple universe unit that can act as 2 Transmitters, 2 Receivers, and 1 Repeater – three functions in one. It’s also the world’s first unit that supports Dual Band of 2.45GHz and 5.8GHz as standard. It carries patent technology for Adaptive Frequency Hopping, Error Correction, and High Fidelity for the most reliable, interference-free signal available.

Bundled with the new W-DMX Bluebox RDM Controller, the F-2500 offers a breadth of control capability. The Bluebox RDM Controller is a PC based DMX and RDM controller for controlling large rigs of RDM enabled products. It allows users to search for any RDM enabled product in a DMX/RDM Network, automatically patch and control the fixture, receive status updates and configure settings such as fixture mode, lamp on/off and more. Bluebox works with the W-DMX™ G4 range and will automatically search for and find any G4 transmitters and RDM enabled G4 receivers. Signal strength and wireless channels are displayed, plus configuration options such as signal power, transmitter/receiver pairing and compatibility modes.

The BlackBox F-2500 together with BlueBox makes for an extremely flexible unit. Users have many functions in one unit (less is more). Before now, it was not possible to get 3 units in a single model to support all standard protocols such as DMX, RDM, Streaming ACN, etc. And with the BlueBox functionality, it provides the world’s first embedded PC solution for both DMX and RDM Control. In addition, the unique RDM function (patent pending) from Wireless Solution makes it possible to Clone units by RDM, remotely access units for service purposes and more.

W-DMX Set to Announce BlueBox at PLASA 2010

Wireless Solution Sweden AB will unveil the latest product to the award-winning W-DMX™ line, the BlueBox RDM Controller, during PLASA 2010 in London, September 12-15 in Stand 1-E43.

BlueBox is the industry’s first PC-based intelligent, integrated DMX and RDM controller software. Built from the ground up specifically for controlling large rigs of RDM enabled products, the BlueBox RDM controller allows users to search for any RDM enabled product in a DMX/RDM Network, automatically patch the fixture, and control the fixture, as well as receive status updates on the fixture and configure settings such as fixture mode, lamp on/off and more. This makes the BlueBox RDM controller perfect for quick setup and programming of corporate and live event rigs (much quicker than an equivalent DMX console due to the fast automation that RDM allows for), and is ideal for autonomous monitoring of large scale lighting installations in architectural environments.

The BlueBox RDM controller is built with a set of features specifically for the W-DMX™ G4 range. BlueBox will automatically search for and find any G4 transmitters and RDM enabled G4 receivers and display them clearly on the screen. Useful information, such as signal strength and wireless channels used can be displayed, and useful configuration options such as signal power, transmitter/receiver pairing and compatibility modes can be set up quickly and easily from dedicated W-DMX™ menus. Users can also see which RDM fixtures are connected through which W-DMX™ receiver, simplifying installation.

The DMX controller allows cue lists to be built, coupled with powerful timing control to enable automatic, architectural or event lighting to take place, with minimal user intervention. The clear, concise fixture alerting system alerts the user if there are any problems with fixtures on screen and by email, virtually eliminating all manual checking of fixtures in fixed installations. The cue list quick select allows dynamic shows to be programmed and run ‘on-site’.

BlueBox comes as an Ethernet dongle and PC software, and is optimized for touch screen PCs. Use of a simple wireless LAN allows the controller to be brought practically anywhere in a venue, making patching, focusing, testing and programming much easier. Multiple dongles can be used for multiple universes of DMX/RDM, allowing a practically unlimited system size.

Elation Announces Ultra-Compact Design Spot 1200C Moving Head

designspot1200c-wJust when you thought that moving lights couldn’t pack anymore features inside, Elation blows the top off with the announcement of the Ultra-Compact Design Spot 1200C 1200w Hybrid Spot-Wash Moving Head with Wireless DMX.  Talk about a mouth full when trying to order one of these things!  For short, Elation is calling the new moving light, the Design Spot 1200C.

The Design Spit 1200C is housed in a small and lightweight case, similar to that of a 700W fixture, but illuminates with 1200W of output power.  With such a small package for such a high wattage lamp, you might think that some common features would be left out to make space, not true.  Contained in the small compact package is a hybrid Spot/Wash with CMY mixing, variable Frost Filter, Variable Zoom (16-41), 8 static/replaceable dichroic color wheel, 12 rotating/indexing gobos, an animation effects wheel, motorized Focus, Motorized Iris and 2 rotating/indexing prism effects.

Talk about action packed, the Design Spot 1200C has almost any feature a lighting design might possibly want all contained right in the fixture.  A feature also included in the Design Spot 1200C is something Electricians and Road Crews might like, an integrated EWDMX wireless DMX receiver.  So all the squint has to do now is get some power to the fixture and configure the fixture to connect to the wireless network with no need to run DMX cable.  For those who are not quite ready to run a fixture and show off wireless DMX yet, the Design Spot 1200C has both a 3 pin and 5 pin DMX in and out.

Retail price on the Elation Design Spot 1200C is $9,399.95.  To learn more about the fixture or to locate an Elation dealer near you, visit their website at www.elationlighting.com.
