Elektralite Introduces New PaintCan 750

Elektralite has introduced a new version of their tungsten wash fixture, the PainCan 750.  The new fixture is very similar to it’s older brother, the PaintCan 575 but with some new and updated features.  The biggest one being the new PaintCan 750 uses a GLD 750 watt lamp at 3200k.

Other features of the new PaitCan 750 include a much quilter fixture with variable speed cooling fans controlled by internal sensors, CMY mixing, a 6 color, bi-directional wheel with removable and interchangeable filters.

A new feature found on the PaintCan 750 is a beam shaping effect with a full frost filter. A nice addition to widen and soften the beam even further.

The PaintCan 750 take 100v, 115v and 230v, selectable on the fixture and feature a fully electronic dimming on board from 0 – 100%. The fixture weighs in at just 35lbs and is available in white or black. For more information, visit www.myelektralite.com.

#LDI2010: PRG Shows Off Bad Boy with CMY Mixing

A week or so before LDI, PRG announced the release of the Bad Boy moving light with CMY Mixing.  I had a chance to hang out with the crazy cats from PRG in the meeting room off the show floor to go over a couple of things.  Chris Conti, the Product Manager for the Bad Boy fixtures sat down and ran through some of the awesome features of the Bad Boy.

Thanks Chris!

Correction: PRG ADDS Bad Boy Fixture With CMY Mixing

Looks like I was a little wrong earlier today. PRG is not replacing their Bad Boy fixture that has quantum color mixing, but adding a new version of the Bad Boy with CMY mixing. Here is the clarification note I got from PRG.

The Bad Boy CMY is not a re-introduction of the Bad Boy but rather a new second model. Both the Bad Boy with the Quantum Color and the Bad Boy CMY will be available. There are two models not a replacement. Many designers like the Bad Boy with Quantum Color (known simply as the Bad Boy) , especially in the concert lighting world.  Now designers in all markets have the choice of which model Bad Boy they wish to use that best serves their design needs.

Here is a little bit more about the new Bad Boy CMY.

Debuting at PLASA on the PRG stand will be the PRG Bad Boy CMY® automated luminaire with seamless color crossfading technology. Allowing designers to fade between colors easily and simply while still having all the features, including the superior optics and precision movement, that have made the PRG Bad Boy an industry-wide success. An ideal choice whenever a big-beam look is required, for example, when playing in front of high-brightness LED screens. Producing a powerful 48,000 lumens, the Bad Boy CMY couples its high-definition optics with a Philips MSR Gold™ FastFit lamp that can be set to levels 900W, 1,200W, or 1,400W. Boasting an optical efficiency of over 40%, Bad Boy CMY doubles standard efficiencies, marrying both brightness and green product ideals without compromise.

PRG to Re-Introduce Bad Boy With CMY Mixing at PLASA 2010

At the PLASA show later early next week, PRG, Production Resource Group, will be re-introducing their Bad Boy moving light with CMY mixing. If you remember correctly, the “orginial” Bad Boy used sets of color wheels to mix and combine colors.  After listening to designers and technicians, PRG has re-designed the moving light to include CMY mixing.

The Bad Boy still is capable of producing a powerful 48,000 lumens, the Bad Boy CMY couples its high-definition optics with a Philips MSR Gold FastFit lamp that can be set to levels 900W, 1,200W, or 1,400W. Boasting an optical efficiency of over 40%, Bad Boy CMY doubles standard efficiencies, marrying both brightness and green product ideals without compromise.

No additional information has been made available about the “new” Bad Boy with CMY mixing.  If you are attending the PLASA show next week in London, be sure to stop by and check out the all new PRG Bad Boy.

SeaChanger Improves the Tungsten SeaChanger Fixture

Fast speeds and more light output… YES PLEASE! SeaChanger just announced these updates to their tungsten color mixing fixture add-on to the ETC Source four.  Increased light output and fast color mixing, how can you go wrong?  Here is more from the official press release.

SeaChanger has improved upon its flagship product line, the SeaChanger Tungsten Fixtures. Through advanced optical engineering, the SeaChanger Tungsten products now have a flatter field, allowing 10% more light out of the fixture, and enables faster color transitions with new firmware.  The SeaChanger firmware upgrade greatly improves the “snap” transition time, with a full-speed, dual rotation that allows you to choose the shortest path to the color of your choice.  This still preserves the smooth, transition-free fades and silent operation that is the benchmark of the SeaChanger family of products.

Nautilus Makes SeaChangers Website

nautilusJust over a week ago, we got wind of some more information about the latest color mixing lighting fixture from SeaChanger, the Nautilus. SeaChanger has just recently added the Nautilus to their website with more details about the outdoor rated color mixing fixture.

The Nautilus is the latest in the SeaChanger line of dichroic color changers designed to deliver an energy-efficient class of high intensity lighting, using proven plasma technology. Nautilus is the first outdoor color engine with a LIFI® plasma source that delivers 10,000 lumens out of the fixture while using only 320 watts of power. The LIFI® source leads a new class of solid-state plasma light sources that combine the best features of solid-state electronics and full spectrum plasma emitters.  The results are long-life, energy efficiency and complete color spectrum for general and specialty lighting applications.

With a lamp life of 15,000 hours, Nautilus is the perfect solution for hard-to-reach installations, domes, atria and theme parks. The Nautilus has a CRI of 92, making it an ideal fixture for museum and gallery lighting. The weather-ready Nautilus, with an IP54 rating, is perfectly suited for lighting applications in theme parks, zoos, gardens and outdoor festivals.

Pricing and availability on the Nautilus has not been released yet, but we have heard from reliable sources that the Nautilus will be splashing down down at LDI this year in Orlando, FL.  If you are attending LDI, be sure to stop by SeaChangers booth, 321. Can’t wait till LDI to learn more about the Nautilus, visit SeaChangers website at www.seachangeronline.com.

SeaChanger Plans to Announce New Nemo to the Family

seachanger-new-nemo

We just saw on twitter that Ocean Thin Film, the makes of the CMYG mixing color engine the SeaChanger is gearing up to announce a new member to the Nemo Family of lighting fixtures.  We learned this morning from @SeaChangerET of this by clicking through to their Facebook page. The only thing mentioned on the Facebook page is that is belongs to the Nemo Family and is an Outdoor rated fixture and that it will be on display at LDI next month in the SeaChanger booth.

Since it is in the Nemo family of products, we are assumeing that this new outdoor fixture uses the LIFI Plasma source lamp with a lamp rating of 15,000 lamp hours, a CRI rating of 90+, and draws 285 watts of power.  We hope to hear more about this well before LDI.

Barco Announces New Wash Luminaire – SHOWBEAM 2.5

showbeam_prodRancho Cordova, CA — 31 March 2009 — Visualization pioneer Barco announced today the debut of the SHOWBEAM™ 2.5, a new High End Systems automated wash luminaire that features a jointly developed Philips MSR 2500-watt lamp source. A smooth field, soft-edge illumination is produced using a new radial lenticular homogenizing lens system that provides a signature look on stage. In addition, the dedicated wash light includes a user changeable fixed color wheel, a variable CTO, a full CMY color mixing system, and the ability to produce an 11-degree fixed hard-edge profile with fast color change and Electronic Strobe. The profile can be rapidly zoomed from 11 to 33 degrees.

The SHOWBEAM 2.5 also features a revolutionary patent pending effect, the Twin Beam™. In this effect, two discrete hard-edge beams exit the fixture on command, with variable control over the Twin Beam deviation and rotation speed — all with little brightness degradation. The Twin Beam can also be varied by adding incremental color via the CMY color mixing system. SHOWBEAM 2.5 incorporates the renowned LED tracking system that encircles the lens, a feature that debuted with its SHOWGUN predecessor.

“The engineering team set out on a mission to produce a new automated wash light, with earth-shattering light output,” noted CTO Creative Lighting Richard Belliveau. “We more than accomplished that goal, while including some never-before-seen visuals that will be sure to excite today’s audiences.”

SHOWBEAM 2.5 made its sneak preview debut in October 2008 at LDI in Las Vegas. The fixture, which begins shipping in April, will next be shown at the Pro Light & Sound Show in Frankfurt, Germany, on April 1-4. For more information, contact your sales representative or visit www.barco.com
