Happy Holidays!!!

As everyone is closing up shop for the week and preparing for a nice long weekend of presents, celebration and cheer.  I wanted to take a minute and wish each and every one of you a Happy Holiday!  I trust that you will be with friends and/or family this season as it is the most important things in life. While I can not spend this time of year with each one of you, know that I am thankful for your friendship, guidance and of course, for reading iSquint!

I’ll leave you with a couple of my favorite holiday songs.  Have a Happy Holiday and a very bright New Year!

Still Time to Join the Secret Santa Present Exchange!

Want to join in on some squinting fun?  There is still time to join in on the Secret Santa Present Exchange!!! This time tomorrow, 5pm est, is when I am closing down entry into the Secret Santa.

So what is a Secret Santa Present Exchange?  Well, THIS ONE is where we fellow lovers of lumen come together and show each other how much we care and love each other by way of a small gift.  Of course presents and gifts are not the TRUE meaning of the holiday season.  But come on, who doesn’t love getting a little something special from a fellow beam bender?

The rules are simple this year.  You can only spend $5 USD on a present, not including shipping.. which should hopefully be cheap.  Why the $5 limit?  My hope is that you use that to make something extra special for your Secret Santa.  I always love getting hand made presents, even if it is a card! It’s more meaningful and special… to me at least! ;)

So hurry up and get your name, email address and mailing address over to SecretSanta@isquint.net.  There is a huge list so far and some pretty wonderful people.  I am so excited to hear what everyone gets too! I know my Secret Santa is going to LOVE my gift!

btw: As with any information you supply to iSquint.net, please rest assure that it is safe and will NOT be sold or distributed to any other party.  The only person to recieve your information will be your Secret Santa in order to get you your present.

Thanks everyone that has signed up so far.  Look for an email first thing on Wednesday morning with who you will be getting a special present for.

Halloween and LEDs, Oh My

For the past month or two, I have been hinting over on twitter that I was working on something special for Halloween this year.  Halloween has come and gone and here is what I have been working on.  With everything that has been going on lately, like this little trade show called LDI and huge amounts of work, I found time to put a little light show together lighting up my house.

I quickly ran out of time putting this together so I didn’t get to write any time code to music for the lights which still irks me a little, but over all, I am pretty happy with how it turned out.  Apparently I won best decorated house in the neighborhood… I didn’t know there was a contest!  I think it was just recognition, I wish there was some prize money!

The F100 fogger really made the house look spokie and awesome, I just wish it kept working for the video and photos.  Sorry guys.  But the best part of the night was a kid dressed in a spider man costume.  He kept getting “stuck” on the spider webs on the ground for the source 4.  I still laugh to myself when I think of that, so original!

Anyways, have a look, let me know what you think.  I included a bit about how I controlled the entire rig in the last 2 minutes for us control geek/nerds.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!!

That’s right, it’s the fourth of July and time to celebrate Ameerica’s independence. I’m going to keep it short and sweet today as I am running out the door to catch a parade! Just a couple neat videos that I have seen this week along with a video of the awesome firework display from last year in my hometown and our nations capital, Washington, DC. Everyone have a safe and happy fourth and blow some stuff up to celebrate!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Merry Christmas 2009

It’s December 25th, have you woken up yet and opened your presents? If not, get crackin!  I just wanted to say Merry Christmas to everyone.  It has been one heck of a year and it’s almost over. I am going to keep this short as this is time to spend with family and friends. So turn off the computers and spend the day with those that are close to you! The interwebs will still be here tomorrow, I promise! ;)

Just in case, Visit High Voltage Productions website to see three great videos!

Thanks everyone and MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

iSquint Holiday Gift Guide for the Theatre Geek

iSquint Gift GuideCan you feel that?  It’s the gift giving season! There are always great gift giving guides for loved ones, kids, add all kinds of other people in our lives.  But what about the techie in all of us?

There are a bunch of cool tools and toys out there for the techie and designer in all of us.  Most of these gadgets help us do our jobs quicker and easier.  Then there are some that are just way to cool not to own and play with.

The iSquint Holiday gift Guide is just a sampleing of some ideas on what to get.  Where can you pick up these great gift ideas?  Try your local theatrical dealer. If you can’t find it there, you can certainly find it online some where.  But as today is December 7, you better hurry, you want to make sure to get your gifts in well before the celebration begins!

I have broken down the guide into three list.  One list for each type of theatre professional.  While of course there are many MANY other types of theatre professions, I am just focusing on these at the moment.  If you feel that I am missing a great gift to add to the guide, let me know if the comments section of this article.

Happy Hunting!

Techie

Lighting Desingers

Programmers

  • Enttect Programming Wings
  • DMX Coffee Machine
  • Swisson DMX tester

Again, these are just a sampling of gifts to get the theatre professional in your life. Am I missing something to the list? Let me know in the comments section of this post.
