MASSIVE #FollowFriday This Week #FF

twitter-logoThis weeks Follow Friday is so massive this week for us that we felt that 140 characters was not enough to thank everyone and get the word out.So rather then posting NUMEROUS tweets about all our old and new freinds on twitter, we decided to dedicate a posting here on iSquint for them.

So in no specific order, our #FollowFriday or #FF for this week is as follows:

Tuesday Twitter Trivia Winner

sun_tourThis weeks Tuesday Twitter Trivia question was, “What is the brightest lighting fixture?”.  We received numerous responses via Twitter DM with answers. After reviewing all of them, the winner with the first and correct answer was @ryanbible with the sun.

While this may seem like a trick question, it is not. While most websites define lighting fixture as an electrical device used to create artificial light or illumination, there is an argument out there that the sun fits that description.

The sun is the answer that we were looking for and thus, @ryanbible wins the free t-shirt.

Have a view on our decision about the sun being a lighting fixture?  We would love to hear your opinion in the comments.  Thanks everyone for playing!

Update: Luminair v1.5 Screen Shots

luminair-15-2.jpgWe mentioned a week or so ago about Synthe FX is getting ready to release an update to their iPhone/iPod Touch app, Luminair, version 1.5.  We have been following their twitter feed (@synthefx) over the last couple of days and noticed that they had some more “leaked” screen shots of the updated version.

Luminair is a featured packed lighting console in the palm of your hand.  You can run a full universe of DMX through the iPhone app to control anything from conventionals to moving lights right from your iPhone or iPod Touch.  It works wireless networking or Wifi on an Art-Net system to send DMX signal over network protocol and then translate it to DMX via an Art-Net ready or compatible DMX node such as those available from Enttec.

We have contacted our mole deep with in the Cincinnati base company to prob for more information on up coming features and additions to Luminair 1.5.  Be sure to click through for more information and to peak at the leak screen shots.

Synthe FX Set to Release Luminair 1.5

We love lighting control here at iSquint. We love it even more when it involves our favorite little product from Apple, the iPhone. We have been watching Synthe FX, the developers of the iPhone and iPod Touch DMX lighting control app, Luminair. Think of having a control console in the palm of your hand with out the need for cables. Luminair works over wireless networking to control, view and manage your lighting fixtures. It uses the Art-Net protocol to communicate with compatible hardware on your lighting network. Luminair is able to control a complete universe of DMX512.

While recently reviewing our twitter feed, we noticed a new follower, @synthefx, the developers of Luminair. Synthe FX created the new twitter feed to release updates on the next version of Luminair 1.5. Synthe FX also has a promotion running through their twitter feed. Follow Synthe FX via twitter up until the release of Luminair 1.5 and on the day of the release, Synth FX will select w winner at random from their list of followers. The winner will receive a copy of the upcoming version of Luminair, 1.5 as well as 10% off on the Enttec ODE.

We have heard through reliable sources that some of the new features in Luminair 1.5 include Quick-Touch cues for easy touch based triggering of cues, the ability to record Art-Net input port data directly to a quick-touch cue. This could be useful when recording values from a console or any or DMX source.

Price for the current version of Luminair (1.1) is $99.99 and is avilable through iTunes. For more information on Luminair control software, visit Synthe FX website at www.synthe-fx.com.
