It’s that time of year where we look at how we can save our home, planet Earth. I have always thought of Earth Day as a day where I do my part of the day by Reducing, Reusing and Recycling for the day. But as I have grown up over the years, I have begun to set Earth Day as the moment where I change one habit that can help save planet Earth.
This year is going to be a focus on reusing. Each morning when I wake up, I have to have a cup of coffee while I drive into work. About 4 months ago, I stopped my daily trip to Starbucks for a coffee and started making it at home. For the price of two Starbucks coffee’s, I purchased a travel mug that I absolutely love and have been using it since. On the drive in this morning thinking about this post, I suddenly realized how much I have already begun to reduce and reuse with this simple change in my life. I have saved over 100 Starbucks disposable coffee cups from going into the trash. While that seems like a small thing, think about it this way. If 10 people out of all the people that read iSquint started bringing coffee from home in a travel mug, that is 800 disposable cups saved from going into a landfill or worse. Now that is not something to brush off! Another huge benifit for me, all of the money I have saved.
I leave you with a simple request. Think about a small change in your life that could help reduce, reuse and recycle to help keep our planet here for years and years to come. Have a great idea to help, I would love to hear about it in the comment section.
