Martin MAC One Beam: A LILI Beam Source in the MAC One Ecosystem

By: Justin Lang on August 5, 2026

Martin’s MAC One family has been a fixture on concert touring rigs since the wash version dropped, and the Beam variant fills the obvious gap: a tight, high-intensity beam in the same compact chassis. At 4.95 kg (10.91 lbs) it’s genuinely deployable in quantity without making your riggers hate you — dense grid rigs, VDO matrix walls, or mixed beam-and-wash setups in a single Fourbar. The light engine is a LILI (Laser Illuminated Lighting Instrument) automotive-grade source cranking 7 million candela, which is a serious number for a sub-5 kg head. The shared accessory ecosystem with the MAC One wash is really nice. same Fourbar, same VDO Grid Mount Ring, same flightcase.

Beyond the beam there’s a 24-pixel RGB backlight ring behind the 120 mm lens — individually controllable, with P3 video mapping support. So when the beam’s parked you’re not looking at a dead head. CMY mixing is fast, there’s a color temperature control, and the cooling system runs at 21.5 dB(A) in theater mode. Control is DMX, Art-Net, sACN, and Martin P3.

HARMAN Professional Solutions announced the launch of the Martin MAC One Beam, an ultra-compact beam moving head designed to deliver tight, high-intensity beams and captivating eye-candy effects in a compact, lightweight form without weight, size, or budget constraints.

At its core sits an automotive-grade LILI (Laser Illuminated Lighting Instrument) engine, engineered for precision and reliability. This compact light source produces an exceptionally sharp beam with an intensity of approximately 7 million candela—more than enough for bold aerial effects in live performance, broadcast, and event environments. MAC One Beam’s optimized output addresses growing industry concerns around eye safety, offering a responsible balance of performance and protection.

MAC One Beam excels in three key areas. First, its razor-sharp beam and fast CMY color mixing deliver dynamic, high-contrast effects with snappy responsiveness. Second, its compact footprint and sub-5 kg (11 lbs) weight allow dense fixture deployment, unlocking bold looks while reducing transport costs and rigging complexity. Third, a mesmerizing three-dimensional backlight effect—featuring individually controllable light guides behind a bold 120 mm (4.7 in.) lens—adds visual depth and stage presence, even when the beam is idle.

Designed for versatility, MAC One Beam integrates seamlessly with its sibling, the MAC One wash fixture, using a unified ecosystem of rigging accessories, including the MAC One Fourbar and VDO Grid Mount System. This compatibility empowers designers to mix fixture types freely—combining beam and wash functionality within the same rig, layout, or flightcase—without sacrificing efficiency or cohesion.

Feature Highlights

  • Compact Form + Massive Impact — MAC One Beam delivers an intense 7 Mcd beam from a fixture weighing 4.95 kg (10.91 lbs.), offering an exceptional output-to-size ratio.
  • Automotive-Grade LILI Engine + Safer Beam Performance — Powered by an automotive-grade LILI engine producing a razor-sharp, high-contrast beam with a responsible balance of performance and eye safety.
  • Fast CMY Mixing + Split Color Creativity — Rapid CMY color mixing enables smooth transitions and vibrant split-color effects with snappy responsiveness and rich tonal control.
  • Three-Dimensional Backlight Eye-Candy — Behind the bold 120 mm (4.7 in.) lens, 24 RGB LEDs create a captivating backlight effect with pixel control, adding visual depth even when the beam is idle.
  • Rigging Versatility + Seamless Integration — Shares accessories with the MAC One wash fixture including the Fourbar and VDO Grid Mount System for cohesive mixed rigs and matrix layouts.
  • P3 Control + Streamlined Setup — In addition to DMX, Art-Net, and sACN, supports Martin P3 control for simplified mapping, addressing, and video integration.

“When we set out to design the MAC One Beam, our goal was simple: give lighting designers a compact and versatile fixture that sparks creativity without adding complexity,” said Wouter Verlinden, Product Manager for Creative LED, Lighting & Control, HARMAN Professional Solutions. “It was also built for stunning eye-candy effects. We can’t wait to see what fresh designs it will inspire for stages, studios, and live events.”
