Luminex has pushed Araneo Studio to version 1.2.0, a feature-focused release that shifts the application from a device-centric tool to a full project-based workflow. If you’re managing a LumiNode or LumiCore infrastructure at any scale, this one changes how you work from the moment you open the app.
Luminex also released LumiNode and LumiCore firmware 2.9.0 alongside this update, which adds Araneo Studio compatibility as a core feature — the two releases are designed to work together.

Araneo Studio 1.2.0 is a feature-focused release that introduces new tools and workflow improvements to help you prepare, organize, and manage projects more efficiently. This release focuses entirely on new functionality, including Online and Project Mode, Selection Groups, managing fixtures from a GDTF library, and assigning GDTF profiles during project setup or MVR import.
Araneo Studio now always works on a project base. When the application starts, the Projects dialog opens automatically, allowing you to create, open, organize, import, or export projects before you begin working. After a project has been opened, Araneo Studio can automatically re-open the last used project the next time it starts.
The Device Mapping pane helps you link planned project configurations to the correct live hardware. Devices appear in one of three modes: Live device (physical device connected to the network), Project device (virtual device with a project configuration), or Unmatched device (a live device not yet linked to a project device).
In Project Mode, LumiNodes can be added as Project devices directly — select a model, set the number of nodes and a starting Device ID, and Araneo Studio auto-increments from there. This is a significant time-saver on larger installs where pre-configuring a rig before it hits the floor is part of the workflow.
Selection Groups let you save and recall sets of devices or fixtures for repeated use across a project. Once defined, a group can be recalled instantly — useful for multi-zone installs where you’re constantly working on the same subsets of hardware.
Fixtures can now be added from a local GDTF library rather than only through MVR import. Upload a GDTF file directly into My Library, browse by manufacturer and model, and assign profiles during project setup or at the point of MVR import. GDTF profiles can also be assigned to fixtures that were imported without one — a gap-filler for real-world rigs where fixture data doesn’t always arrive clean.
